Adelaide: Monthly Coffee and Drive Meet - Discussion Thread
Could we persuade you to cruise somehow haha? Always wanted to see/hear your car!
Had the pleasure of Kim gunning it past me after the last coffee meet
Kim, it sounded amazing mate, thanks.
Might make it out in the morning as I ended up finishing the polishing on the mk1 tonight, might go take the dinosaur burner for a wash still.
Mine: -MK5 Golf 2.0TDI[Deiselgeek sigma 6 shifter + H&R 50mm lowering springs + GTI Tartan interior + Audi 18x8 A6 wheels(Dark Steel)]
-MK1 Golf The re-spray/re-build
In the family: -MK5 Jetta 2.0TDI, -9N3 Polo TDI, -6R Polo TDI, -Mitsubishi S^$&box van
A pattern seems to be forming...
It ended up being a good meet! Jake finally got his car photographed (new plates look on point), and Kim's RS4 got the requisite amount of doting.
The EuroSA guys don't exactly have the cruise route planning thing down pat just yet, but at least a bunch of us made it out to Hahndorf for brunch. Good times.

Did I? Where is this photo.
You're right, the cruise didn't work because the organisers didn't turn up or do anything, so everyone just tried to sort it out amongst ourselves and that's where the problems started. Need a better effort from the organiser/s and it would have gone off flawlessly.
The numbers were good though, the meet was good, and once we got to Hahndorf the day was a success.
Fitted my Euro plates today, so now I'm feeling extra Euro.
No more 'JAKEYS'? Those distinctive plates were the only reason I realised you worked at the same place as me. And thanks again for the VCDS tweaks - everything is working like it should.
Shocking, at least vwwatercooled events have some coordination about them.
Some photos would be nice for those that didn't make it out.
This is down to organisers. As mentioned, one of two didn't even turn up. EuroSA is a great club but as one of the many small Facebook clubs now, it is not quite as well managed as a forum based club like this one. The whole Facebook club thing is a lot more casual generally. Although some like Slow Life are very well organised despite being Facebook based. Despite that though, we made it work and other than a bit of disorganisation on the cruise, the start and end point stuff was flawless.

No, I loved them on my old Verada, but I think the R36 wants to fly under the radar a little more and look a bit less out there. The plates attracted too much attention. Euro plates also suit it a ton better since they were designed for the car.
(Don't mind the loose parking sensor in the grille. They've been detached since I need easy access back in there to finish off the DRL install at some point. Those are a bitch to get out so I just left them not clipped in.)

The main guy who "runs" EuroSA (I use the term loosely) now drives a Subaru and always seems to have an excuse for not turning up for events. There are also a number of members that tend to use the "I've got a hangover" line on Sunday mornings, so most of their meets tend to be of the cliquey 10pm variety. I think a bunch of guys headed to one of the members' places in the hills after Hahndorf.
To be honest all it takes is one or two people who think ahead to make a cruise well-organised and enjoyable, but that didn't really happen here. Still, there were a great group of people that did make it out (plenty of the regulars that we see at VWW cruises too, like Jake, Scotty, Jonasz and Kim), and that makes any meet a success IMO.
I didn't take any photos Rhys, although Adelaide Exotic Car Spotting took a few photos of us leaving Burnside. A video of Kim taking off in the RS4 broke Facebook.

Who is Adelaide Exotic Car Spotting? Is he a member or? Cause he said he took them all but I didn't see him. They're decent shots though, and yeah the video of the RS4 has inspired me to want straight pipes for my exhaust! I dunno if his car drones a lot or what, but it sounds nuts when he gives it some.
Scotty took a really great front on shot of mine. I didn't think about shadows though!
EDIT: I edited it to fix up the light post shadow. It's also a little off centre now cause it's a cover photo.
