Re: Expression of Interest - Queensland Raceway Happy Laps

    Someone had to do it.

I wish I had so so much bounty in my life that I could afford the luxury that that is.

      Free? You've confused me.

That's a fair call. I agree with Lakeside being appealing for that reason. QR is a tracky track. For you, it's boring. For others, its appeal might come from learning exactly where to place their car on such a wide track and refining each corner.

Thanks for posting. I was actually waiting to hear from you. So, I can't count on your interest in any of the 3 configurations, correct?

Who knows! I'm very happy with the LR experience. Although as interest increases in enjoying track speed without fear of officer plod, may need to try the QR venue to enjoy the car!

QR at 8/10 isn't as enjoyable as lakeside, but a fully committed lap at QR offers me a greater sense of satisfaction. Turns 1 and 2 at high speed when you get the nose in, find the apex and get back on the throttle as it slides to the ripple strip, fan-friggen-tastic. As Ben said, QR has different rewards and that's moreso about getting the lines right and balancing the car.

Well that's my appeal, though that be relevant to sprints driving style rather than HL's.

QR is good for us noobs to learn our car without having to watch our mirrors constantly to let faster cars past (ie. stay on the line and faster cars will pass you). it is also an easier track to practice your driving skill and any mistakes are less likely to damage your car (only your ego).

Machine, popcorn finished, count me in for this. Really like the idea of rotating the track configurations to keep it different.

I agree with the guys above who noted it's a different type of track to Lakeside, meaning a different set of challenges. Sean you really nailed it in terms of the enjoyment T1 & 2 can give if you get them just right. Anyone who saw my efforts on the inside of the paperclip the last time we did this will vouch I could do with some more national cuircuit time....

Do you have enough peeps to set a first date for this?

DarkShines, glad to hear from you. We have enough to run the sprint circuit as proposed. Of those who have expressed interest in participating, may I have a show of hands to indicate who's prepared to commit to the sprint circuit on 14 April at $45 ($35 for Rhys)?

If paperclip means turns 4/5 of the national circuit, then yes I do remember this quite clearly haha. I has the footage from it lol.

I certainly need more practice to get used to the power delivery of a boosted vehicle. I now find it a bit difficult exiting corners trying to balance the throttle and not cause understeer...especially on lower speed turns leading onto a long straight. Otherwise it is lift-off oversteer time which is fun but dangerous.

$35 is great! hehe, thanks Ben. I'm guessing it will be $25 like usual for people wanting to come along to passenger/spectate and eat breakfast?

Also the 15th April works out fine. I'm guessing you mean 14th though, as 15th is a monday?

Yes, 14th. I mentioned spectators/passengers in first post. Once we have confirmation on numbers, I can request that the date be held. Let the show of hands begin...

Slow in, fast out works for me. That way the engine torque through the front wheels is pulling you around the corner, rather than the momentum pushing you around the corner.

The only problem I find is balancing the throttle so the front wheels don't light up. Second gear lights them up easily.

You should never, ever be in 2nd gear. Are you good for 14 April?

Folks, I'm looking for the next 20 posts to be a yes or no to 14 April. Thanks
