I'll be in Germany that week but might be keen for the next one.

      Reflection

I've gone through my first post and realised that it might sound like I want people to get training to participate in happy laps. That's not true, but I do condone professional instruction. At the very least, I want people thinking about the racing line and where they put their car on the track. I've edited my first post accordingly.

Another deterrent to rapid sign-up might be the change in price to usual HL. I can't do anything about that, as I want fewer cars on the track and I want to help cover my costs to organise this, because I wouldn't be participating if I weren't the organiser.

Having said all that, we've got 12 or 13 who've said they'll run on the 14th of April and no one who has said they've got a friend who's interested in driving. It doesn't look like we'll have the numbers for the 14th, but I'll leave this thread open and hopefully it'll continue to procure interest.

If someone else wants to step up and organise QR HL, by all means...

Thanks to those who've come on board.

but we still need the 'Machine' training so we can all be skillful to handle a situation like below:

          Ben I'm good for the 14th so that's 14 for the 14th.

Ben, perhaps start another thread specifying the date and an abbreviated version of your introduction. Perhaps intially we focus on getting the numbers at the desired price, than in due course the more experienced drivers can be offering assistance to the newer participants.

Bet the integra driver shat himself, fastest corner in the country if I recall correctly. Some ability but mostly fortune kept him off the wall. There was a big accident at Lakeside on the weekend in the mini race, entering the corner onto the straight, into the wall and bounced back in to the track to be cleaned up. Apparently no serious injury.

The thing I like about Clay's approach to the HL thread with the names up front and maybe google map of track would help. You clearly know whos in or how far back you are before you get in......At the end of the day I'm happy to pay a bit extra to get this happening on the 14th.

On the video...the driver hardly touched the steering wheel, so, was this caused by just entering the corner to fast with crap tyres?

My guess would be a bit of trail braking on the way in with grip and weight transfer on the front, back hangs light and around you go. Wouldn't be blaming the tyres initially as that appears more balance related by the way it pivoted.

Haha. He didn't do too badly. I'm not sure I could've done any better, save for avoiding that skid in the first place.

                    Thanks Swalee, for confirming.

Thanks to the suggestions above, but I don't want to post a HL thread if there's a risk of not getting enough participants. That's why I've started with an EOI. Starting a new thread means I've booked the date with QR and people who sign up will expect it to go ahead.

Whatever causes the back to become light appears secondary to his wheel movement; if you watch both the normal and slow mo, he's waay slow to correct the movement in the rear - it's really gone by the time he even starts to move the wheel. If he had reacted more pro-actively to the back getting light, there potentially would have been less theatrics.

I'm with Aaron on this one. If he had corrected his steering angle earlier, or jabbed the throttle to change the balance of the car he may not have pooed himself quite as much haha. However it's a different story when you're the one in the driver's seat

                          • Thanks josh. Nice quote, by the way.

There will be no QR HL in April, but I'll keep this thread going and we'll see how much interest we get. I think, as a trial, I'll end up booking a date late May/early June and post a thread asking for people to sign-up and pre-pay. We'll see how we go from there...
