No worries about the late reply, I'm going to contact htem today to clarify a query about changing drivers halfway through the laps session.

in some other fun run sections i went to last year, they allowed switching driver during the session. obviously both drivers need to pay in full. don't know if it's still the same.

but please be very careful entering the track. we had someone entering the track with the 5 of us going down into the fast left bend at full speed. luckily there wasn't any accident but cars at the back of the pack might be unsighted and crash into the car exiting onto the track.

      • I see its been changed to 35 cars on the track? I understand its just a "fun" day. But 35 cars is too many. 30 is too many. Maybe we can have 2 groups? Is this possible clay? It will be more enjoyable and safer.

Also, driver swaps? Really? 30mins goes REEALLY quickly. Its not an entire day. I think with all the interest we should organize a full track day. Clay? Maybe you can talk to the guys and get costs and rules (obviously helmets etc will probably be needed)

        Cheers

hehe, i have never seen what the power of an RS4 is like. Tune was finished last night. Made a massive 505nm and 193awkw, still running stock rear exhaust. We even turned it back to stock and saw 348nm, so we know the figures are right. Will be totally different this time round, last time it was more or less a stage 1.

I'm in the process of (re)building something I can (have) use on the track that's much more cost effective to run. Jap, not Euro.

I just want to see how the Audi goes in the relative safety of the track and without the worry of the boys in blue, plus $25 is fantastic! Looking forward to meeting you all!

I agree with you, its not a RACE DAY. Its a fun day to test things out under safe conditions. HOWEVER, boys will be boys. I dont car what you say, everyone there is competitive deep down. haha.

I have limited the maximum number of cars to 35 as we need at least 30 people on the day for catering purposes (As I am the one who organised the event I stand to be the one responsible in the event that we don't get the required numbers = I am the one who will have to fork out the extra $25 per person who didn't make the numbers up)
This banks on the fact that 3-5 people will not make it on the day and to make sure we do have the numbers required.

As it stands we have 31 cars coming (so i expect 27 to show up)

Whilst i can limit the amount of people we have on the track to 20 cars we still need to have a minimum of 30 paying people in attendance for the event to go ahead so unless we can get 10 people to bring passengers/paying viewers along each time then there isn't much we can do about the numbers.

Having said that it is just a fun lap session with good food and VAG nuts.
Last time we were only held up by the diesel golf (which can't make it this time) so it will likely be a completely different driving experience.
30 cars is only going to be 9 more than we had last time.

I will check with the guys at Lakeside about having a split session where we can have say 15 cars on while 15 have breakfast but i don't know what our chances of that are.

I am not overly interested in making this any more serious but i believe there is about 5-10 people on the forum who would be interested in a half day session so it may be best for one of those to see what QR have available.

I can't justify the cost of getting a helmet/fluids/tyres/brakes etc so I am happy to organise the laps sesion to get my adrenaline fix.
But feel free to see what support you can get to run a more race oriented session.

          • Well i have a passenger coming. Does he need to pay for breakfast? Or can he just be a passenger.

I agree with what you said regarding the type of day it is. Leave it at that.

9 more cars. Is almost the entire front straight taken up with gaps. So its actually a hell of a lot of extra cars. If we can get 2 groups that would be great. They can only say no.

I think i will try and organize a track day soon for those interested. Im currently in a similar boat with track days, need a second set of wheels as A: 19's suck on the track and B: tyres get runied pretty quickly.

            Cheers

We can't have a dual session on Sunday morning as Lakeside is already completely booked out for the sunday sprints.
I will see what we can do for next time though.

I see your point about the extra cars on the track being an issue.
I am trying to work out ways around this with the guys from QR but until we can get more people to pay and passenger/watch it is going to be an issue where you have 20+ cars

As for passengers, they are required to pay (and are therefore part of the 30 people minimum)
People who wish to watch have the option to pay for breakfast as well or to not pay and skip breakfast.

I thought it might be too late this time round. At least we know now that numbers are an issue. We will notice it on the day as well with the traffic.

Looking forward to the day. Its always good to give the car a run with out the boys in blue around.

                  Cheers

I'll monitor how things go on Sunday and make any adjustments to the numbers for next time.

Your idea of a split day is a good one to put forward to Lakeside if they have time free for the next one.

We can just ask them when we are there and see what they say. Best time for things like that is face to face. The guys seemed pretty good last time. Im sure we can work something out.

                      • unless your car is track prepped (ie. better brake, engine cooling and track tyres), a street car can't last the full 30 minutes with constant hard driving.

personally i like these events as you can drive harder without much extra outlay. 30 cars aren't too bad (if everyone know what they are doing).

there are always sprints sessions for the more serious drivers.

                        • for the level this is aimed at i think its fine as is, if people want to step it up a notch all well and good, we arent timing or anything.

maybe if we all agree to a headlight flash or something for slower cars to get out of the way and try and sort the cars into some kind of speed order ie put all the r's at the front gti's and the like in the middle and atmo stuff at the back we should be fine. there were only a few cars that got lapped more than once last time.

With the speed limits in place most cars seemed to hold up fine.
I know for sure that i only lapped 2 cars

We'll see what happens on sunday and what we need to do (if anything for the next one)
Lakeside has been advised of the numbers for the event so we can't change anything now.

It is interesting to note that we ended up with a total of 42 people who were interested in driving but ended up with only 31 drivers who could make it by the time i provided the details.

I like the idea of a headlight flash for telling people to move over
