weather held out, and thankfully it wasnt the skin-fryingly sunny 32 degrees that it was supposed to be.
great to catch up with all the familiar faces, and i was stoked to have a great chin wag with some of the relatively "newer" members of the forum!
cheers james for leading the cruise out - perfect DOVW style blend of cruising along in a solid line and representing VW / showing our presence on the road, with a mixture of full blat vroom vrooms thrown in
always a pleasure, gents! it was good to park in the grounds this year (i was outside last year) and actually detail my car to get it looking half semi partially somewhat respectable, as opposed to usual when it looks like a cute baby blue hairdressers car that's been ever-so-lightly sharted on by a giant of some description.
mk1's are always good, but damn stu's (valver) was just.... it is SUCH a serious driver's car. everything in it is there for a reason and everything else has been left out. i love it.
Was a good day out and had a great time chatting and checking out the rides. The judging categories were a little disappointing with the heavy aircooled bias but the mk1 that got best modified was well deserved. Bring on SEDF
Was good to meet some of you guys I was a bit disappointed about the lack of watercooled metal, though, and there were a couple of cars I thought deserved recognition more than others that won: Fab_R's Mk6 - stunning car and exactly how I'd do it if were to step back into R ownership - and the slammed black Polo GTI (vwthunder?), which had a perfect stance on the new wheels. Also rated Bflat's Polo and Tim's Jetta very highly for bringing some newer looks.
Ultimately, I was stoked to get home without getting hit by rain in my wiperless bucket, though

Yeah bit dissapointed that I entered Modified and didnt win anything, I cant realy do that much more to the car
Maybe they need to put a few more categories for the Watercooled cars. I wonder what they class as modified, would like to know what the judges base it on/
Tho Valver your car was higly modified and you won the class, at least they got something right. Congrats to you
Didn't take too many pics today - pretty bad lighting for most of the day, which was a shame. Got a few shots of some of the aircooled stuff - some of which showed great character
