Thanks for representing Geoff,
That was my first DOVW last year and chose not to be judged and didn't stay around for the results so haven't read into the why's and therefores etc. I do give you props for doing something about it though and anyone who had any comments/feedback to add from last DOVW should give you a nice printed list instead of bitching in the background otherwise nothing will get changed as the decision makers won't hear it.
the dyno sounds good, but whoever is organisig it should make sure that its an AWD dyno and that its capable of strapping an R32 down. Apperently its a challenge to do that
should just be able to pull the haldex fuse to make it FWD only?
yea, ive done that (drove it for a few minutes) but they say that the whole system can get overheated really easily coz there is no oil circulation. I dont wanna test that theory and burn the system
i dont think we need more awards or categories, just a rethink of which ones go together.
the golf categories work however may want to include jetta into the mk5/6 category. i like the idea of bundling 2 together. and proabably have a best "other watercooled" which can include polo, passat, eos etc etc.
Yeah a best mk1 / mk2 cat, best mk3 / mk4 cat, best new golf mk5/mk6 and best modified watercooled would be a good starting point
best corrado too
1988 corrado G60 LHD dark green, full miltek , borbet e's .k w coilovers
2006 T5 tdi semi auto
1977 mk1 gls 2 door,1.8 on twin 45 dellorto's
2002 bora 4 motion,kw coilovers,x force full stainless,r32 rims

Polo for stand alone catagory Kiel...that gives us a 50/50 chance of taking something home...at least a guarenteed podium finish
Geoff, how can we get our hands on forum stickers for the rear window?
Hey guys, thought I'd better give you an update following the meeting last week.
Basically the committee has agreed to condense the number of air cooled categories and allow for new water cooled categories as expected. There are still 25 categories in total.
Here are the proposed categories relevant for us -
9 Golf I - II Standard
10 Golf III - IV Standard
11 Golf V - VI Standard (Hatch and Wagon)
12 Water-cooled Standard All years; Passat, Polo, Scirocco, Passat, New Beetle, Bora, Jetta, Tiguan, Touareg, Eos etc; not Golf
13 Water-cooled Performance All years; Factory-badged GT, GTD, GTi, R and all R series e.g. R32, R36. R50 etc
14 Water-cooled Modified All years; not factory-badged performance
15 VW Affiliate Audi, NSU, Skoda, SEAT, Bentley, Lamborghini etc
Best Interior & Best Engine Bay have been opened to all models, previous air cooled only. Best Exterior has been re-introduced having been part of judging in the past but removed in recent years. The other generic categories for President's Choice, Entrant's Choice and Encouragement Award remain.
Hopefully this suits everyone and gives people a better choice of categories to enter!
A few other points discussed-
- Drivers must be present at the time their vehicle is judged. If bonnets are closed etc then minimum points will be awarded as judges WILL NOT touch vehicles. While this seems logical plenty of people weren't by their car last time and may not have been scored according to expectations.
- The club will have a team of judges on the day. Best Exterior was discussed at length and the head judge knows what to look for - ie a Mk VI won't win with a factory paint job vs a fully restored professional job. He made the comment about checking inside the boot etc etc so he knows what he's doing.
Anyone wishing to volunteer to help on the day with judging, on the gate etc etc can send in their details. PM me if you like.
