          • Just heard ... son-in-law taken into the Wesley emergency admission ... I probably won't make it this morning. Got take swmbo in there now (3:27am ... how inconsiderate!).

Have a good safe cruise and I'll see what time I come back from the hospital ... might drive out that way (Wivenhoe) to 'clear my head'.

              • Not a good way to start the day Dave, I hope it works out.

I'll be bringing some pens and stickers, so everyone can put their name, and username on their shirt, as the dyno days etc I've been to you can be standing next to a forum buddy, and unless you happen to go around to everyone, well you often miss out on putting a face to the name.

                    • Great Day

Thanks for the great day guys.

Shame about the traffic, Saturday is the day to avoid that up there, but at least the traffic provided the most entertaining part of the day.

When a legend stopped in the middle of the road to tell the old woman (?) she was driving to slowly, she didn't look to impressed.

But I was, an absolute classic. (driving below the speed limit is an offense too)

                      • Thanks all who attended for making this, relatively incident free, cruise possible - special thanks to all those who helped out with the BBQ/Drinks. See you all next time!

This legend needs to fill us in, perhaps privately, about this...

That's not good news, and weird cause leaving the Gap I thought I was second last, and the VR6 following me certainly wasn't getting dropped! Perhaps on future cruises we decide to stop at various points and count cars. In the dirt bike world there is a "cornerman" system where the leader waits at certain points till the last person goes past, then joins on the back. The front turns over, so everyone gets a turn on front, and we keep everyone together. Could have stopped at a few of the lookouts etc.

Whoever organises the next cruise needs to decide on some sort of checking / stops system, to save people like migolf coming a long way to get left behind. The pace was a little frantic at times, and whilst we did observe the limits pretty well most of the time, I can appreciate people who don't know the road having trouble keeping up. Certainly not a road to disrespect, I hope everyone had a lookie over the edge, big drop that.

Still I had a blast, and have to say the 4 wheels drives get the win around corners bigtime, and it was great to put a face to a few of the characters on here.

Thanks to everyone that cooked and took pics etc, and sorry to hear that we managed to leave people behind.

                          • Was pretty good cruise I must say. Very enjoyable and yes pity about the traffic. For the most part though it's good to see that most people are considerate and pull over to the side to let people past.

I've put my photos up in the Cruise Pics thread as well below Joe88's photos.

If anyone want's their number plates blurred out let me know.

Good to meet a few new faces again as well as catching up with some of the regulars and good to see an excellent VR6 turn out as well. The mountains were alive with the sound of Six cylinder goodness.

Big thanks to Jon for organising the cruise and food. And a big thanks to Greg for organising and lugging the drinks up the mountain in his tractor.

                            And finally...

Guess who was pulled over by the fuzz (it wasn't me)?

                            Lots of VW folk.

                            Onions on first, good work.

                            Mmm smells good.

                            Good times.
                            Cheers,

                            • Also I hope your son in law is ok Dave.

I also echo cogdoc's sentiments migolf in that it's bad that you got left behind. It's tough when there are so many cars to keep track of everyone and keep everyone together. Some twoways should be something to think about in the future (we've used them before) if possible and a rear gunner as well who knows the route would be good too. Things to think about I guess.

                              Cheers,

                              • Not to stir things up, but on the last cruise organised (that ended at Jacobs Well) I attended and everyone just went too fast and I couldn't be bothered keeping up in the end. I don't particularly feel like getting caught for speeding or worse being involved in an accident with my girlfriend in the car so thought that I would sit this one out.

I think it would be great if there was a system in place that ensured people didn't get left behind, it would help to build the community, rather than leave some of us out of it.

**I am only saying this because I feel alittle bad for migolf, he is only new to the site and already got left behind. I have met a few of you and you are good guys, so please don't think of this as a personal attack.**
