  • 6.5L/100, but you are almost there Jonno.

Seems the evo boys have got it sorted, I vote we rip off this great idea, then pass it off as "our" own.

Any more Glorious area runs I'm happy to play sweep, as I know the roads around here very well, and have no problem with taking it easy during the daylight hours.

12.3L/100km for the whole day including getting to the meeting point and back to home. Filled up at the BP at the meeting point and did 181kms from there back to home. A quarter of a tank used.
      Cheers,

Best I've ever got is 6.0L - it's no match for TDI.

Happy to generate maps and instructions like that for the future.

To be honest I doubt this would work, reason being that a lot of people who go to these cruises want to have a bit of a "spirited" drive.

I would daresay that as long as everyone knows the destination it really doesn't matter how fast everyone goes. Just have the people that want to drive faster in the front.

It is also unfortunately the leader's responsibility to keep the group tight and together via communication to the designated person at the end of the pack.

I'd suggest also that the leader give out his number to EVERYONE in the group so in case of any emergency. We also had a rule that we don't leave anyone behind. If someone has to stop on the side of the road, the person at the end of the pack communicates this to the leader of the pack and the leader stops the cruise in order to remedy the problem so no one gets left behind.

I am in no way attempting to sound "know it all" and that my way is the best way. Merely wanted to share what I've found in organizing cruises as this is something I like doing.

On a side note, I'd love to be able to have a VW and Evo cruise! Be really interesting to see how the cars perform.

            Regards,
            Charlie

I get so jealous when I see that..... try 16 L / 100 km and refueled TWICE.

yeah, and migolf is from the Gold Coast and even said before the cruise that he has no idea where to go. i agree with you though about knowing where the destination is and thats where i benefit having a satnav. but some people don't and rely on the more knowledegable people to help out.

I had a look at his post and I do agree I feel a bit sorry for him. From his posts, he sounded very excited about the trip but ended up getting lost on the way.

The important thing are, a person that knows the roads and stays at the end of the pack, constant communication between the leader and the sweeper via radios and clear instructions and directions given to the people that come to the cruise.

Hope you guys have a really good cruise next time! Maybe you can invite us along as well

John, i dont think u need to take this personally at all, u did an excellent job!! it is everyones responsibility for the loss of migolf, hell laz, ryan and myself went off route and somehow re-joined

perhaps having the first meeting point not in the city would be best, somewhere a bit more suburbia with less traffic lights and turns . . .

unfortunatly G60Jay was the sucker that was nabbed by the popo! he also was left behind but thankfully had his tomtom handy

all in all i had a wicked time scooting through the mountains (moreso on the way back)

looking forward to the next cruise with our new evo commrads (we may need to boost up lads!!)

                      • Dang! Wish I'd made it. We've used CB radios in the past to good effect ... then you can split the pack in two and have the drivers who wish to risk a 'spirited' drive up front, and the rest following behind ... 4 CBs would be all you'd really need. Shaneth & I used some when he organised a cruise about 18 months ago ... worked well.

The Bro-In-Law was worse than I thought and will be in Hosp for at least a week more ... maybe two. He got something called 'Reactive Arthritis' which happens after an infection of some sort and if you have a certain gene (which he obviously has). Poor bugger has been in so much pain they've been drip-feeding him morphine in hospital and he could hardly move when they took him to the hosp. in the ambulance. If they hadn't given him the 'green whistle' (Nitrous Oxide) I don't think they would have been able to get him out of the house without a heart attack.

Anyway ... he's starting to show signs of coming right ... but it could be up to 18 months before he gets back to his normal self.

Pleased to hear that you all had a pretty good cruise and Jon ... don't let it get to you, Mate ... these things are of minor consideration in the overall scheme of things. Next time I think it would be a good idea to take the CBs ... talk to Shaneth about that.

Cheers guys ... keep the pics coming.

                        Dave

Thanks to Jon for organising our day out and the BBQ and to the people who helped on the day. Great day in the end with the weather being kind to us all day. Good to put more faces to user names as well. My overall fuel average was 6.2l per 100 from the time I left to the time I got home. ( sorry petrol boys ) just had to put that in. TGT-20 Larry
