Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    • Was a good day out. Good to meet everyone. Never seen a cruise bbq to work out so perfect with the amount of food!

Unfortunate that people get lost and or left behind. I mean there was a map on here, so if they were a bit worried that could have been printed out. But either way I think we have learnt from the experience and next cruise we'll come up with something else. Weither it be better or not time will tell!

Another thing I am going to point out, and it is bold for a good reason.
!!!KNOW YOU AND YOU'RE CARS LIMITS!!! DO NOT GET FIXATED ON THE CAR IN FRONT OF YOU, LOOK AS FAR AHEAD AS YOU CAN. DO NOT FOLLOW TOO CLOSE 3-4 SECOND GAP MINIMUM
Without having a go at the specific driver, as they came up and appologised as soon as we got to the destination. But for me to see the car in front of me pinch a brake on a corner, then look up in my mirrors just intime to not even be able to see the car behind me's bonnet, then to see smoke coming off their brakes. Its just a tad scary, and just shouldn't happen.

Also thanks to Trezza for stopping the slow police. Thanks to Jon for the food and organising it the whole thing, and CogDoc for drinks.

I'll organise the next one. ATM I'm running with byron sunrise cruise. Hit the bakery up at 7am, yum yum~!

Upgrades don't help someone realise that extreme tailgating isn't a smart idea anytime. Things like this just scream "can't drive for nuts".

I was up the back, and couldn't believe how a select few people drove, sloppy with the lines and so flippin close, when there is just no need. I played with the car in front, and the black VR6 played behind me, but we kept plenty of distance most of the time, and we all had an absolute ball just getting the lines right. Hats off to the young fella in the black VR6, he drove well yet didn't sit fair up my clacker.

Think about it people, there's fun, and then there's just stupid, and looking obviously so.

            • Thats basically it. I mean 2 seconds is ok for traffic, while still not the best if you leave anymore you may as well be going backwards. But with that sort of drive, and the variation in cars and ablity, bigger gaps need to be left. Its that simple.

To put it bluntly, EVERY other forum I've ever been on has banned any form of mountain driving even being mentioned on their boards due to past issues (ie, cars off sides of roads). We don't want that happening here.

              • I drive the green mk3 golf auto .which means it aint that fast to begin with and no engine braking on tne down hill runs so you have to brake early it is the first time for many years for me driving an auto.
