  • You're probably right but I suspect in this case it will turn out to be a very poor decision long term, a hell of a lot of of VW forums around the world are following this buy and those people will be forming a long term opinion of audiosources from these shenanigans.

You can say that again. AS have not really been that helpful to Sandy and that's a shame. My lingering worry is that this trend will continue with software updates.

No thanks. A Pioneer AppRadio3 is beckoning for me, I think.

            • Over the last 3 weeks, every single week someone has promised delivery 'by the end of the week'..

And here we are at the end of another week and apparently units have been shipped to somewhere buy no-one knows where.

Unfortunately if this is the behaviour seen for production release, be prepared to have a bug littered system for a very very long time. With the new Mk7 release I'm sure AS will direct their attention to upgrading the mk7 new platform. You can see already many aftermarket manufacturers are rushing to be the first to release new products for the mk7 lineup.

              So the wait continues,... again

              • The telling thing is that the Audiosources web site still shows the ANS as the products available. The DNS can only ever be considered as a development product and with that comes the delays that are being seen.

                • The dns better not be like the forgotten Ans. Let's release a product with tons of bugs and don't fix them.

But this is the way at the moment. Technology is moving so fast that if you waited until all the bugs were ironed out, you would never get it to market as the market will have changed. As a result bugs are classes as "show stoppers" or "bugs". The only time it is not released is if it is a "show stopper". Think about it, Firefox is up to version 25.0.1, and the e-mail client has been in development for the new version for the past 2 years.

How about this one. Sony selling a LED TV but it has a 14:9 screen!!!!!!! A cousin of mine bought one, and as a result ALL broadcasts see part of the top and bottom cut off. The response from Sony is that if she wanted a 16:9 screen she should have bought a TV that had a 16:9 screen!!!!!!!!!

It's basically a generic chinese unit with a skinned OS. So you get the downsides of the chinese units (terribad radio reception, fairly average OS, often chinglish menus, WinCE etc). Good thing is the latest gen of Eonon units are ok for the price. They're pretty fast, cheap, etc etc. Cheap and plasticy build quality though. I wouldn't say it's an alternative to the DNS, more a placeholder :p

But hopefully it won't come to that. Any updates Sandy?

                            • Most people seem happy with its performance (speed), price is good too. The only thing real concern may be radio reception.

I'm getting concerned that Audiosources may deliver a bug filled unit and few to no future updates/bug fixes.

I'll try to contact them about mk5 compatibility.

                              • it might soon be time to a collaboration list of alternative radios that might compare to the DNS, as thr light at the end of the tunnel is dimming so it seems
