Seriously guys, you must have a patience of a monk,.. There are other options out there you know.

Let's see what excuse AudioS has installed for next week
The only other option, as far as i'm aware, that comes remotely close, are the Zenec units. They don't have the OEM style GUI, but they do have full MFD functionality, including nav instructions. They're pretty expensive, but (~$1200+).

        ANS, Zenec or even RNS.

I know they aren't as whizz bang as what the DNS promises to deliver, but at least they are tangible.

I have an RNS (I have low standards lol) & my lil girl loves watching Kung Fu Panda every time she gets in. Hard to imagine what the last 4 mths would have been like without it (if i had to wait on the DNS )

I've got my fingers crossed for you guys, hopefully you will receive something soon.

        • Be patient, the problem is that AudioSources told that they were working on a new device. We already know that they are slow, so let's wait until the device is finalized.

My ETA is new year. Will it be our Christmas present?

At that price, you'd be daft to not just buy an RNS-510!

            • I wish they would tell us the truth and say it will be ready by xmas. ..then we could order the ans instead.

              • If there there was/is a unit similar to what what the dns may offer (may how its not complete and it keeps changing what it doesn't / cant offer) I think I would be on board to jump over to it.

There are many but they all cost a lot more. Any of the Pioneer AppRadio units, RNS-510, any of the Sony Mirrorlink units...

However, if you want to pay less than $1000AUD, you are limited to a choice of one!

I bought my RNS for just under $1,000AUD off eBay. Brand new, came with codes & antenna.

I've got all the features I need atm.

I don't doubt that. They go for around $900 but, in my case, I require a VW bluetooth kit as my Mk5 wasn't specced with one by the first owner and the 9w7 is the recommended kit and that costs $360 on eBay (along with the added grief of getting the main unit under the driver's seat and the mic cabling up the A pillar and in to the overhead light console).

I think if you give yourself a weekend for the install, you'll be able to run the bluetooth and mic no worries. Then you'll have OEM plug & play kit.

Unfortunately we don't know what the mic in the production DNS's will be like. There must be a reason why all car manufacturers run their OEM bluetooth kits up towards the drivers side A pillar. If it works well as part of the stereo i'm sure they wouldn't go to that effort.

Yeah, I have been reading the install guides recently for the work! I agree on the positioning. My Mazda CX-7's BT mic is in the same position!

By the comments on here, the BT mic is OK and not as good as the OEM unit.

I know the Parrot BT unit in a friend's aftermarket Alpine unit in his BMW is stunning. It's so clear I often have to ask him if he's driving!

                              • Alternatives:

OEM RNS510: ~$1200-1600 depending on version. OEM unit. Requires Coding
Zenec ZE-NC2011D: ~$1200 (europe). Non-OEM GUI. Supposed full MFD support.
Dynavin VW: ~$800 (USA). Non-OEM GUI. Based on Generic chinese unit (afaik). AC/MFD Support (1 line?).
                                Eonon D5152/D5153: ~$300. Non-OEM GUI. Generic Chinese unit. AC/MFD Support (1 line).

We've all talked about the generic chinese units before, so you have the full gamut of those/all the android units as well, and of course they're pure rubbish.

Anyways, i'm on the early list for the DNS, and i'm happy to wait for it haha, there don't seem to really be any alternatives that offer what the DNS offers, without going full OEM.

Any of the 3, standard sized DNS's will fit fine. (510, 610, 810).
