Funny thing is when the order is through, those from outside Australia will receive their units first since they will be directly shipped from factory via DHL, so October 7th is still likely as long as things progress according to plan.
I almost forgot (and I really shouldn't have, being Chinese) that it was mid autumn moon festival yesterday. What I didn't know though was that it meant two days of public holiday in China, which wasn't the case before I left China. So naturally I'm getting nothing from any of my contacts yesterday and today, but I'll update everyone tomorrow.
Regarding MDI, the DNS renders it obsolete. DNS has its own aux and USB / iPod cables, you could just wire them through to where your MDI currently is when you install it.
I know the unit can handle up to 64GB SD card or USB flash drive, but I don't know how it would handle SSD and mobile hard drives. Main issue is power and number / size of files, I'd have to do some testing.TR 08 Golf GT TDI, Custom Code Phase 1, Milltek Exhaust, Whiteline RSB + ALK, APR Carbonio Intake

If you were so inclined you could hack up the MDI connection out to each of the DNS's inputs. It'd take a bit of guess and checking (with a multimeter) to work out what pin did what (since i'm assuming VW doesn't have a pinout diagram for the MDI) but you could definitely do it. Correct me if i'm wrong but the MDI is USB/iPod, and has a separate Aux-In?
My car only has Aux-In in the centre arm rest, so i'll probably hack it up to connect to the DNS, but i'm no stranger to electrical work :p
Given the moon festival that probably means we won't see an update until Monday, yea?MY10 Golf Mk6 103TDI DSG Candy White | Revo Stage 1 ECU Tune | 18" Talladegas | GTI Front/Rear/Exhaust | R LED Taillights | GTI Steering Wheel | VW Discover Media | Focal IFVW Front Speakers | Mk7 Climatronic Panel |

Ok Sandy. Let's hear some good news this weekend. Based on your preview video I don't think anyone on this thread will mind getting the unit with only a few non functional related bugs (like SD card music artist title). As long as they have whatever hardware tweak they were doing lets get this show on the road!!!

Agreeeeed! I wont be using that anyhow, not unless it effects the USB playback as well, however even then I can live with that and get a firmware fix at a later date.

Man so many of you guys have the sky is falling syndrome. If you want OEM pay for the RNS-510 and have something that won't support any file formats, won't play movies off SD card, and has an incredibly laggy interface. This is 5-600 cheaper than an RNS, it is a first run hardware and software.
Have some patience.
