  • PM'd through some questions, bought a 2010 GTI on Friday and was looking at getting Sat Nav into it so almost perfect timing for me. Need to decide on the size......

Will those of us without the roof mount antenna (my 2005 Golf has a rear windshield antenna)
still be okay for GPS reception?

Yes, it comes with an antenna.

Most of the question asked in the last week or so have been answered already. It's worth having a read through before asking questions.

          • I received the sample unit and had a play with it tonight, unfortunately it is running an older test version of the firmware - there are quite a few new features but several are also missing. I'll hold back on that demo video until I get the latest update, but I can tell you the menu looks better and everything runs very fast, including the GPS.

In the mean time, here are some photos to hopefully keep you satisfied for a day or two - the sample unit I received was DNS-610.

You'll notice that the connections at the back are now all separate, so you can just leave out the ones you don't need to avoid clutter.

                • 2 quick questions for you Sandy. The two ports on the front are for the MicroSD cards, correct? Will those of us not in Aus will still receive the MicroSD card for maps, it just will not be of use to us until we acquire our own software?

Just trying to plan out who memory cards I need to buy to go along with this.

                  Thanks!

Looks like the button on my steering wheel that mutes the stereo....

It's for muting the voice of the GPS, same for the ANS too,

Will our units come with the latest update installed or will have to do that?

I wish, but rivol is right, it mutes the GPS sound.

The units will ship with the latest firmware update.

                          • Looks good DkN, keen to get one in my hands

What about the connections on the back of the unit?

I spy the FAKRA radio ports, canbus harness and accessories pinouts but not sure what the others are :p

Considering it comes with an iPod input, I'd say yes.
