Ok, the garbled text is only when RDS is on.
SD shuffle has changed for the worse IMO.
Select lets say album no 3 in the folder with shuffle selected as standard and when it finishes, instead of going to the next album in the folder (no 4) it goes to the first album.
It use to go to the next album in the folder not back to the first album.
I didn't have the monsun error today after doing a restore last night.

DNS-510 probably won't come at all due to lack of demand, what's available is DNS610 and 810 along with the other models (850 for new Touareg, 620 for new Octavia, 630 for Superb etc). The DNS is available now at Audiosources but I am holding off till January when the software is more stable and it is more certain that no other hardware issues are missed.

It's available now but Sandy is holding off to make sure that all the hardware issues are 100% fixed before getting all ours shipped out. Also wants a more stable firmware.

The ETA for me to receive shipment is mid January. As LD_mart mentioned I did not want to be the first for the production units considering what happened with the initial batch.

As for the raffle draw, this will be done when the final order in January is put through. Until this happens people can still withdraw from the group buy and receive refunds so numbers are not confirmed.

Quick update for those not following the support thread, many bigger issues have been resolved and in my view there are just 3 issues left that I want resolved before ordering the units, these are:

1. SD / navigation running at the same time causes a conflict where SD music playback may stutter / song switching may take excessive time. Some optimisation of the SD decoding will be required to fix this issue.

2. current method of SD music loading will always start from the beginning and take 15-20 seconds to load a ~4 minute song, though playback starts once ~30 seconds have been loaded. The issue here is if the song memory is at something like 3 minutes on startup, or you just started a song and want to skip to 3 minutes. The issue is more pronounced if you have a larger file / longer song. A different method of loading the song will be required to fix this issue (e.g. one that is able to load the song from whichever point rather than from the beginning every time).

3. navigation volume and SD volume have a conflict sometimes reducing the SD volume - this is due to navigation using the system volume same as SD, and should be an easy fix just by switching navigation onto a separate volume on its own.

Really looking forward to getting the unit now. Hopefully these issues will get fixed up pretty quickly and the team can move onto developing the unfinished features / modules.

It's not too late, you can join up to the point I make the order with Audiosources.

The features you quoted there are what I have listed as future features / addon options. Software features will come as firmware updates while future modules you would have to purchase.

Regarding the mirroring module, there is one available now that can also work with iPhones, but you can't control it with the unit's screen.

I'm interested in the DNS-810, would this unit suit the new 2013 VW Beetle ?
would all the functions work as factory ?
has the bluetooth functionality been resolved ?
can you answer and hang up phone calls from the steering wheel controls ?
which reverse camera would suit the 2013 VW Beetle ?
would the factory parking sensors work with this unit just like the oem unit ?
also on the door open display is the car shape configurable to a Beetle shape ?
when do you expect to have stock of these units ?

ie. a frequency cut-off setting for the line/sub or speaker level outputs?

(he's probably not even a BMW owner.... we've seen how he posts before, nothing constructive, just bs)

Anyways, christmas/new years break, didn't expect many updates around this time anyways.

The hold up is still the software.... it's probably about 98% of the way there in terms of a stable 1.0 release, as per the OP of the other thread in the audio forum (ie missing some features that will come over the next few months, but stable enough for general release). That being said i've been using my unit for ages and it's been stable, soooo yea.

Let's just hope Sandy gets a hold of the units before Chinese New Year (31st of Jan) as I know a lot of companies close down for at least a week from then...
