2006 T5 Kombi Beach
Once the engine started the brake pedal went back to being normal, but harder to press first time before engine started. I suddenly got the thought that the brake vacuum reservoir might have got a leak or one of the pipes, so I had a look around and got lucky straight...

Smoking GTI
Have a 2008 Polo GTI thats done 140k with an intermittent smoking issue. Initially when the car was stock I didn't notice this at all. I did a few mods (2.5" Catless downpipe, Turbosmart recirc valve, Forge TIP).
It was fine for a month or 2 but I started seeing smoke when coasting...

EGR problems....again!!!
Our 2.0 FSI was coughing or stumbling at random times today, so I removed the EGR valve cover and sure enough there were broken teeth on the black plastic "half-wheel" cog. I'd replaced the "full-wheel" cog last year with a new, improved one from Germany which was easy enough, but...

Noisy variable cam.
Hi, recently bought a broken Mk6 GTI. Bent inlet valve. Anyway head off and new valves installed and complete Head service. New chains, guides and tensioners. All back together and runs nicely no codes. Except for a horrible rattle coming from the variable cam timing mechanism on the inlet cam. Most...

GFB Diverter Valve 2020 R-Line Tiguan
Has anyone fitted a GFB T9351 diverter valve with an upgraded turbo intake?
Does look like there is enough room.

Fuel additives
Does anyone use fuel additives (eg. octane booster). Are these good or bad for your engine? which brand(s) do you use or recommend?
VW will sometimes provide fuel additives (valve lubricant IIRC) when you pick your car up from a service.
- thinking there should be some general...

Catatrophic Failure Oil Non Return Valve
Hi guys I thought I would make a post after a pretty awful first experience of VW. A few months ago I purchased a 2010 golf GTI and straight away got the timing chain and tensioner changed by a mechanic to get that all out the way which went smooth and easy. After that I proceeded to get a interesting...Last edited by zaRu; 09-05-2022, 10:03 AM.

Valve Stem Seals - Replacement Cost
I have 2010 118TSI that blows white smoke on startup. At a recent service they suspect Valve stem seals. Does this seem a plausable explanation without removing the cylinder head?
Any estimates on how much to fix, they tolds me $3.5K. Given that it 10 years old and done 190K I'm not...

Clutch bleeder valve popping off transmission/slave side
I'm performing the clutch delay valve removal (removed the orifice in the clutch bleeding block). I was having trouble bleeding, and then it popped off the nipple coming out of the transmission side. It seems I can't get the pin to seat properly in its groove.
The locating stub at the...
