The oil spec for our EA888.4 engines is 0W-30.
I don't think that is a good spec for longevity in Australia's temperatures or most people's usage patterns which are severe by most user manual definitions.
What do you reckon?
Should we be using 5W-30 or 5W-40...

Castrol EDGE 5W-30 LL 507 spec is on sale at supercheap till 23rd November. 5 litres just $65.49! Same oil at Repco is $101!
I don't think it will get any cheaper.

I own 2013 Volkswagen CC 130Tdi. I bought it brand new in early 2013. 152340kms and still runs like new. On time services with castrol longlife 5w-30. Changed timing belt and water pump at 120kms. I hope to learn much more about through this forum. Thanks guys

I just purchased my first VW and I looked through the manual and it states that I need to use 502 00 approved oils for my engine. The issue is that I can only find either 0w-40 or 5w-40 oils with this approval but I called a dealer and they said it requires 5w-30. I was just wondering...

Why you need to use 504/507 oils in FSI/TSI/TDI engines!
