  • Has anyone ordered a new Tiguan ?

So has anyone preordered one ? Has anyone been able to put a holding deposit to secure one of the first shipment subject to approval once it gets here ? I want one and would be happy to put down a deposit as long as it has an out clause. VW Oz cant seem to give any firm details on what spec models we are getting or brochures of any kind so its a bit unreasonable to give a firm order sight unseen. The sales people i've spoken to so far tell me how great it is - they have seen the very upspecced one at the motor show not a normal spec one and have not driven one.
I'll be going in to see my local dealer tommorrow - be interested in anyone else's experiences so far.

    Cheers !

    ordered one

    hi

new here. just placed an order for a 6spd auto 147tsi Tiguan with the following

    Deep Black- metallic/pearl effect
    Off Road Tech
    RNS510 with RVC
    Park Assist
    18" Alloy
    Blluetooth (dealer fitted)

    total $52,245.46

thinking i should've gone TDI instead, oh well, good thing wife works for petrol company, get discount on fuel.

Will post some pics when we take delivery, dealer said it might take up to 4 months 'coz of the options.

Incidentally, I was leaning to get this after market satnav (avc9000)

but wife wanted factory options for warranty purposes so had to go her way. Anyone looking at this?, I've exchanged emails with the seller and it's only $899.00, pretty good price I reckon.

      Hi Sheckster

I'm guessing that is a drive away price ? I'm looking at a 103TDI 6spd with leather, offroad tech, fog lights and comfort package. If its not available before June 30 for the right price might have to go for the Forester XT.

So it would appear they're doing discounts on these then. I expected discounts to be few and far between in the early days.

According to my local dealer, they were expecting their first new model XT in today. I haven't been to have a look yet.

Ditto. I don't spend $50k at the drop of a hat.

The dealers are pushing pretty hard with the " If you dont order one now you will miss out - we've sold quite a few allready"
They then follow that up with a 3 - 6 month wait for one to your own specs of colour and options. Surely there are not that many people willing to spend 50K plus on something sight unseen - any good reports on anything on the net are far from reliable !
The strong demand and selling out fast lines seem to be justification for virtually no discounting. I mean what is with a $3990 dealer delivery ? How far is that bending you over for a car wash and a test drive around the block ?

I'm happy to wait until the dealers calm down, specs and prices are settled and the "rush" is over.

I suspect Subaru may do a much better deal and have your car within 2 months.......

BTW, the resale value on the XT may be significantly higher after 3 years as well judging on current resale value trends comparing VW and Subaru ...

As much as I love my VW's I will make a decision that suits all my requirements and if I cannot get the VW I want in the timeframe I want, I will defect to another manufacturer.

Also, the Q5 Audi (a Tiguan clone) will be here by the end of the year and may be a another proposition......

$4k dealer delivery!? My Golf GTI was $1495 last year. Unless they discount the dealer delivery in WA because the stamp duty is so damn high (like 6% or more once you go over $40000).

Got to test drive a new forester today, only an XS but was pretty impressed with the way it drives and the interior space. Should have an XT available for a test drive within the next week or two.

Yeah I neally swore out loud when the salesman wrote that down. I said what do you get for that ? He replied with "nothing really"

Other internet sources say the Q5 is based on the MLP? chassis with a north-south engine / transmission so while the styling may be similar I don't think it is really a clone.

$4k for dealer delivery will put me off just on principle. That needs a price inquiry more than petrol prices. (Along with metallic / pearl paint, if any manufacturer sells more with than without then the price should include it with the non-met being a optional price reduction)

Dealer delivery on a V10 Toerag is only $2495, they really are pulling their puds trying to charge $4000.

I somewhat agree with Mischa, my target price is usually to drive away at the RRP and pay no onroad costs. Which in WA represents roughly a 10% discount, with the stamp duty being such a rip off. However, with only two dealerships in Perth (ie. no competition) it was a bit harder with the Golf. I was only able to get the dealer delivery off, and still had to pay the stamp duty. (Not that I'm any kind of super-negotiator).

$3500+ for a satnav/radio? You must be f'n joking! Pricewise the Subaru looks much more appealing, for $6000 extra (if you want it) you get leather, satnav and a sunroof, plus it already comes with xenons, a gruntier donk, and a manual transmission in the top model.

I'll definately be waiting for the heat to die down before signing up, also the Tiguan is supposed to be getting released as a 2WD in the future as well as having a DSG gearbox instead of the auto, and who knows, maybe they'll change their minds and bring in the manual too?
