Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hey guys,

Just moved to the Sunshine Coast from Brisbane, and the Golf is due for service. I normally take it to Comet Automotive and have found them to be great.

If there is no one up here, I'll head back down to Brisbane, but preference would be find someone between Caloundra and Maroochydore.

Who does everyone use? and why?

Im sure I have heard of Northern Volks being mentioned on here previously. Either way, here are 2x places on the Sunshine Coast that are within 5 mins of each other who specialise in European Car servicing/repairs.

Perhaps do a drive by / call in / give them a phone call and see which one you like the looks of better.

I just take mine to Cricks have been going there for 3 years so get a bit of a discount and I also supply my own oil.

Has been said on here the indies in this area arent really much if any cheaper

Take it there in case of any problems in the future where VW look more favourably if you are a steady customer

I take my T Cross and my Golf to Cricks- the main VW dealer- their prices seem reasonable to me and I can communicate with their friendly staff. I have also been to Northern Volks and found them OK.

60k should also be DSG, Haldex, brake fluid and cabin filter. Make sure they clean the Haldex filter when they do it because apparently its not part of the "service" provided by VW dealerships.

thanks for the extra items Lucas_R
Apparently the haldex was done last service, I'll have to check the log book as i didnt own it until just after that service
And I was told by the service agent the DSG doesnt need it (something about being the 7 speed)

I'll book it in next week unless someone here can recommend a good local independent (its a touch too far to go to my old mechanic, Jimmy at Alba in Brissy)

edit - northvolks seems to have disappeared, and a few too many negative reviews on google.
I'll reach out to the place you linked at Moffat beach
                  cheers

if you find a solid independent shop at Moffat Beach please share your experience
It’s good to have reliable options in the area, especially for DSG and Haldex work
if you need any parts then you can check wreckers here they are famous cash for cars in sunshine coast

I ended up using cricks at Maroochydore.
they seem OK for a dealership (in my rather limited experiences) even gave the car a quick wash and vac while they had it.
but I think I'll end up going back to Jimmy at Alba in Brisbane for the next service

I've been a constant client of Crick's Maroochydore for the last 4 years, and have built up a good relationship with the service staff, spare parts etc. I've had no problems, the servicing has been timely and efficient, and I have no complaints. I did price them once against other local servicing independents, and found Cricks slightly less expensive.
