Solitaire - Adelaide VW/Skoda

From memory the letter I received said that Solitaire was relinquishing their dealership rights and as a result cannot and will not perform any warranty work, and a vague mention about Skoda announcing who the next city dealership would be.
This doesn't affect me as I am locked into using Jarvis due to the Warranty extension debacle on purchase of my car, in saying that the service department has been bending over backwards to help both myself and my wife (she bought a Fabia), get a free loan vehicle each time we take our cars in, but I do feel for those who still have cars under warranty.

There's been a post or two on the auskoda fb page indicating that Jarvis will have an announcement to make in Nov which ties in with Solitaire relinquishing the rights at the end of the month.

Not if there's fixed price servicing. Then the dealer will just be paying higher rent for the worshop and will have no way to recover the higher costs. The only way to make the money back is employ cheaper labour...

Good point, but still not good for the (Skoda) customer.

I am near the end of my 3 yr lease on my RS... having purchased the extra 2 yr warranty thinking it would be good for resale or if I decided to keep it at the end... I was pretty disappointed to receive this letter.
I rang Skoda oz, they said they are in the process of setting up a new dealership. I guess we wait and see [emoji13]

It made sense for Jarvis to pick it up in Adelaide given they already run a shop out in the Barossa.

It really won't make a scrap of difference to the average customer - who knows, perhaps it helps mainstream the brand a bit more because Solitaire certainly had little interest in pushing it.

Agree that Solitaire didn't really care if you didn't buy a Skoda as they'd sell you a VW instead.

Skoda was always the poor cousin at Medindie.

I have dealt with both Solitaire (Land Rover Discovery) and Jarvis (2nd Hand Discovery, is there a pattern there?) and have to say Jarvis were better in relation to customer service.

I dunno if I'd go Solitaire again after having gotten two cars from them in the last 6 months. The second time they didn't do a good job at all and I suspect it's because my insurance company forced them to price match Duttons. They tried to sneakily drop some of my accessories off as well and were told to add them back in at no extra cost. Second car came to me with far more paint damage (swirls and such) than the first did and I don't think the sales guy was particularly happy about the entire thing.

Not to mention how nerve-wracking it is in a brand new car to try and turn onto a busy part of Main North Road when there's poor visibility due to them parking cars on the street. I think next time I'll suck up the 50km drive and go to Duttons or something.

There's a new one opening nearby from what I saw on a facebook group. The other dealership is opening a city location. Guess they were negotiating with them at the same time as Solitaire.

Apparently it's the old Jarvis Ford site.

It's 477 North East Rd, Hillcrest and yes old Jarvis Ford site but not at Medindie.

I'm not convinced it's a great location for it to be honest. I think the old Solitaire location was better and more central. Even though it was limited in real estate.

Have to say that I only caught up with this over the last couple of days when I was shopping at Medindie.

All I can say is that after dealing with Jarvis for my wife's Subaru, this has pushed Skoda down to the bottom of the list. I had nothing but woeful customer service from Jarvis in both sales and service departments. They made Solitaire look like the gold standard.
