I've got a 2008 Mk5 GTI. It never came with a spare key. Does anyone have any suggestions on acquiring a cheaper option rather than going to the dealer?

Unfortunately the only option you have is going through a dealer because the keys come laser cut on order from Germany.

The key does not have to come from a dealer, an automotive locksmith would be able to do this for you for a little less than dealer prices. I do have keys and remotes for these but that doesn't really help as I'm a bit far away.
I will have an ask around and see if there is anyone in Brisbane that can help out.Comment
