Don't get too excited about a recall, they have said they would contact 4000 customers, not that they would do anything mechanically. Maybe they will fix things, maybe they will call the customers to tell them that the issues are normal (as many have already experienced).

If this SMH article is to be believed, it's 4,000 Diesel owners - however it does link to another article which doesn't specify that.
Got an email from VW today saying I could take my car to any VW dealer for a free check.
Apparently I did too - but Google picked it up as Spam: Why is this message in Spam? It's similar to messages that have been detected by our spam filters
This free inspection just smells of bullish*t, i just have no hope in the dealers here anymore.
Most likely, you will drop the car off, it will come back with an extra 200km on it for some bizarre reason, and half a tank less of fuel.
