"well that explosion and fire from the underneath of the car is normal operation, nothing to worry about, however we decided to change all your fluids as well even though you just had your 15000km service, thats $560"

"Oh also you will notice on the receipt that we charged you 70 dollars for anti squeak lubricant for your brakes, well we actually ran out of that but we still charged you "

From the DSG woes thread in the general forum:
This just in: Volkswagen to recall 25,000 cars in Australia

TROUBLED German carmaker Volkswagen has issued a recall on more than 25,000 cars sold in Australia.
The vehicles affected were built between June 2008 and September 2011 and include the Golf hatchback, the Jetta sedan, the Polo hatchback, the Passat sedan and wagon and the Caddy van.
The automatic DSG gearbox will be inspected and if needed repaired on that batch of vehicles.
The recall follows two weeks of unprecedented pressure from customers demanding their cars be fixed for wide-ranging mechanical faults.
Complaints included engines that conked out, high oil use, and gearbox issues.
In addition to the official recall, Volkswagen Australia will also call 4000 diesel cars back to dealerships for inspection.
News Limited understands that Volkswagen is still yet to issue an official recall following customer claims of sudden vehicle decceleration.
The company says any one experiencing that fault or any others to contact their local Volkswagen dealer.
Volkswagen Australia has set up a dedicated customer service line to answer customer queries - 1800 504 076.

In all seriousness I wonder what they are going to do at this inspection. What could they do. They arent going to rip every box out to check clutch wear. They will most likely keep them for 2 hours, drive them around the block and give you the key back saying yours is OK.

Looks like it's happening. Mine is in that range but guess I'm fine since I've had a whole new DSG put in

Well, my 2010-11 Polo broke down on Sunday night and only heard about this recall this morning. The car had to be towed to a holding yard and then taken yesterday to the closest VW service centre to where I broke down (annoyingly, it's far from where I live). I've just tried calling VW Customer Care and General Enquiries (should be open now according to their website) but both numbers just get a busy tone. Just wondering how this recall would affect the car since it's currently already broken down and with them at the moment.

Well, your car break down doesn't even have to be related to the recall. Your car could stop for many reasons since it's buit from the thousands of parts , the one of the reason your car stopped could be well a dirty fuel (not covered by the manufacturer warranty).

I would wait for them to come to me with the diagnose first.

If it's DSG related and there is a fix, they maybe just fix yours while it's there.

Well either way, the few problems I've had with my Polo has really turned me off VW and this was the last straw. Going to trade it in and get a Toyota or Hyundai. My last car was a Corolla and had no problems with it for the 5 years that I had it. Polo was nice to drive, but I buy brand new cars for peace of mind and the Polo's problems have left me car-less enough to get rid of it and move on
