What a question this one is. It's great to see some of the influences here.

I was raised with an extended family of all girls and so I didn't have any guy cousins or friends to play with before the age of 4. Mum and Dad say that when I was little I changed. I went from playing with whatever the girls were playing and one day, I decided to make a lego block into a car and smash into stuff and race the lego block car around the house with genuine race car noises (this was very distressing to my cousins and aunty ).

I think if I can attribute my love of cars and pride I try to take in my cars, I would have to mention my Grandad. He was a mechanic his whole life and had Holdens and always took pride and cared for them. I mightn't even remember some of our earlier car talks but I'm sure they were a big influence. I definitely don't get any car love that from my Dad, although he's willing to listen to me ramble on.

Ever since those days I've been into cars. I can still remember seeing my first ever R32 skyline in the 90's (GTR I think), that was a great moment.
I've liked a lot of different cars in my life, including some domestic metal, I think I'm just a car person at heart.

I can't say that I have any real "car people" in the family. Dad has always had respect for cars and always keeps his vehicles damn clean, although I suspect that more because 'thats just the way you do things properly' than a greater appreciation.

Personally I have always had a mad fascination with pulling things apart. In most cases they even go back together when I'm done As a child I had bits of string up to make my own pull string curtains, I had mad contraptions built to do various pointless tasks... I was into computer programming too, but I think it all comes from a basic desire to know how things work and how they all fit together.

My first car was a VW Type III 1600 TLE Automatic Fastback, built from the ground up, new paint, engine, interior etc etc While most of the work was paid for I stripped much of it, re-tarred the floors and generally wanted to do everything I could in the garage at home. Having a German mother and grandparents helped cement the love of all things VW (although I do appreciate just about anything on wheels ).

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

seeing the Ford Cosworth rallying and racing

then started watching Jimmy Mcrae in the british rally championship and got hooked on rallying.
Ended up getting a saturday job in a garge just to work on cars...from then on it was just cars/ cars /cars and cars

best thing for me was joining Club GTI and met LOADS of great people and learn loads....ended up taking me to the point of starting my own car club ( NewportEdition ) , becoming a Race Course Marshall at Castle Combe.
Since being here in Oz i have dropped the ball abit but i am planning on getting back into marshalling next year and get back into my dubbing full time
