Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Hiya Scott, I've found a car feels slower when I'm a passenger than when I'm driving. could that be a part of your perception?

(ps, how was the snowboarding this season?)

Well said Scotty, I too have to wonder why people driving VW's have to bicker so much amongst themselves. Sure an EVO ( and many other cars in fact ) are faster than any VW, but for me, no EVO / Rex is fast enough to escape the stigma firmly attached to it. I guess it's a Gen X thing...

...and that for me was the decider.

Just last night, had some P-platers in Commodores trying to get to me race them, i.e. tail-gating speeding up slowing down etc. all the while I had the little one in the back asleep in her baby seat....and although I was looking at an EVO X as my next car, not anymore I'm over it, and glad to see something different in my driveway for a change.

          hey guys!

it could be, gareth, although to be honest despite how bad ass my cousin's s15 is, and even though ive never even been in anything like it, it was very mild compared to what i was expecting. ish, the way some dubbers on here positively humiliate the cars they spend so much time and money on, you'd expect a camry sportivo to absolutely annihilate anything short of the race spec scirocco.

and gat dangit- the snow was HORRIBLE this year. the number of days i went up and it was literally pissing down rain. it took the park diggers 3 weeks to build the 2nd jump on the summit park, and the day after they finally complete it, it pisses down rain all day. poor bastards. made me re-evaluate my need to go to buller next year. not a happy camper.

how was your season? how was shredbo?

Unfortunately, maturity is not a pre-requisite with the ability to own a car, join an internet forum, and type on a keyboard...

cos the real dubbers rarely come on here and get dragged into the bollocks that goes on between keyboard warriors.

Funnily enough, I havent seen any of the loud mouth trouble makers at any of our meet ups. Or you for that matter Scotty my boy

                    Hahahaha nice one Dom.

By the way guys, i have no real personal preference for any make of car really. I just go with what i like, and i was only pointing a few things out. I don't really care if i offended some people but i am sorry if some of you took it the wrong way, but as most of you that have actually met me know i'll say everything to someone in person that i write in text.

The VR6 is a nice car and the (mk4) Bora is in my opinion the best small sedan VW have made, probably the best price vs quality you'll find and very reliable.

I'd NEVER own an Evo or anything similar. It's not worth the trouble. Hell, just the afternoon i was driving in from the lake (in my CADDY), passed an illegally low Laser with a car load in it (they were swerving all over the place, slowing down etc.. Pretty bloody dangerous really). As soon as i passed them, hello they're up my arse and when i slowed down for the 80k zone they flew past me clearly out of control.. Fcuking d#ckheads.

ive been in my mates evo8mr and that thing is scary fast!
when we went through putty road on one of the uphills i was leading then saw him coming on the lane next to me, i dropped down two gears and floored it and he still passed me! i later found out he left it in 6th gear because he didn't have time to downshift lol
But i took him for a ride in my car and he goes i'd take a stock evo easy

I'm with Dom on this, if you want a fast car, go buy a fast car. VW's are comfy, sort of classy, slightly-quicker-then-usual cars from the fatherland. Not much else too em really.
