Other person can't hear me

For any outgoing or incoming calls, the other person can't hear me. I can hear them fine, and it's been working fine for ages. I thought it was maybe my phone but I got the same issue when I tried it with my wife's phone. I suspect it is possibly the car's microphone.
Is there a way to work out what the issue is? I have obd 11 which didn't show anything.
My car is a 2016 rline bitdi 4motion sedan.

Probably the microphone which is in the roof near the map lights. I had the same issue in my Mk7 Golf GTI - people could not hear me talking but I could hear them just fine. I bought a new microphone and it fixed the issue instantly. I actually bought 2x microphones just incase one of them was faulty, so I have a spare one that is brand new. Assuming its a matching part number for your car, you are welcome to have it as I have no need for it. The part number I have is 3B0 035 711B and its a genuine VW part I ordered from ECS Tuning a few years ago.

I was in the middle of writing just that... then had to reboot the stupid computer

Mics are relatively easy to get at in most vehicles so very DIY-able.
