Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • VW Service schedule, when does it start?

    Hi,

I am purchasing a new VW 10km on the speedo. It has been registered by the dealer but called a GHOST vehicle ie: It was registered but has sat in the warehouse and not driven for nearly a year.

When does my service schedule start? Is it due for a service in 1 months time (12 month anniversary of rego)?

    Thanks.

Ghost vehicle, that's a new one...

VW Service Schedule 12mths or 15,000kms (whichever comes sooner)

I would arrange for the 1st service to be included in the vehicle purchase price.

    I would be interested to know the following;

    Build Date:
    Compliance Date:
    First Registration Date:

Also, when the car is registered, that is when the Warranty start date is.
You might also want to check if it has three (3) year or a five (5) year warranty...

Yes the 5 year warranty has started. It loses 1 year basically.

So when you say nearly a year, was it registered in 2019?

Since the oil changes are 12months or 15,000km whichever comes first. It’s from the day the engine was started at the factory.
