  • Wanted - VIN No. for Transporter TD400 LWB with Rear Airconditioner

I am trying to track down a VIN No. for a T6 TDI400 LWB with a factory REAR Air Conditioner.
Can anyone supply me their VIN No. please.
My Compressor has packed it in and I want to put a bigger one in now so I can get a rear aricon installed later (I don't even know if they are bigger, but they must be)
As always, my VW dealer is having trouble finding out if he can get a compressor without an actual VIN No.
If you are not comfortable sending me the VIN no. you can do it in a private message or as an alternative, contact Young Motors Volkswagen ('On the Highway') in Geraldton WA directly and ask for Kyle.
    Thanks

I have had no luck with this in the VW Watercooled forum at this stage but have had some luck on the T6 Forum in the UK if anyone ever has the same problem.
At this stage though no one has given me a Transporter TD400 VIN, just multivans and Caravelles and Kombi Californians, which certainly helps.

      hi jezza,

i had the same issue when i tried to get a spare wheel assembly for my 3200 kg GVM t6 transporter (these don't come with spare wheels)

i had to walk across to the dealer show room and write down a vin number from off the floor, so the service department would look at it.

But trying to find a transporter with the factory rear aircon installed might be hard, as i don't believe many would fit them as a option.

Thanks Bryn. I have been driving Transportera for 10 years now and any time you need something you have to do your own research and bring in a VIN. The amount of times I have stopped random Transporter drivers in the street and asked them for their VIN just to get a roof handle!!

I.m a bit confused on this post , why would you need other people's vin number for parts in the first place . Doesn't your van have one ?? I doubt VW would have a larger compressor as opposed to what they would fit in the first place . Why not go the aftermarket way to save money .

VIN Nos. (Vehicle Identification Number) give all the specific detail of an individual vehicle down to the last door handle and all the added factory accessories and extras (kinda like DNA!) So a van with a diff lock and windows will have a different VIN No. to one without for example. I have a van that doesn't have rear air con. What I am after is a VIN from a van that does have rear air con so I can give this VIN to my dealer to confirm if the compressor is the same or larger. I need to confirm if VW put in a larger compressor when they put in a rear air con unit. Essentially a van with rear air con has a second evaporator (unit with a fan inside the cabin that blows the cold air in) and I believe that a larger compressor would be needed to cope with the doubling of cooling power. But no one at this stage can confirm for sure if it is larger or not. My current compressor has packed it in and I want to retro-fit a rear air soon so now is the time to upgrade to a larger compressor if it is needed rather than put in an original one then have to replace it later with a larger one. Hope this makes sense.

Okay now I get it sorry for the assumption of bewilderment yes if you only have normal air con and would upgrade to rear as well then maybe yes VW would have a bigger option to allow for more output , again what about aftermarket ? seen a few done over the years . I haven't looked through this one but it may give you some clues Online VAG spare parts catalog, Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Seat. VAG VIN decoder, part number search. *** Online.
