EGR Removal 2006

Just got a cracked EGR cooler and been told its $1700 plus just for parts
I can get an EGR delete kit for about $250.
But will need to reflash the ecu to get rid of the light
Worth doing or not ?
Any advice appreciated

a quite a few of these EGR coolers have seemed to just stuff up lately...

Its a 2.5 AXE
Mechanic said cracked so havent seen it yet but Darkside do a delete kit for 60 pounds.
Just spoke to mechanic said EGR cooler is split and leaking exhaust gas

Just need to find someone in Adelaide to reflash the ECU to remove the error code when its fitted.

I thought that there problems with the engine manifold cracking fairly well documented on here , not the EGR might be worth double checking . http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...acked+manifold

Already replaced the manifold last year with the Darkside replacement cast one

Yes to be honest as much as I enjoy this van I dont know if I would buy another.
My T4 petrol manual never had the problems I have had with this one.
I know theres a difference between manual petrol and the diesel auto but its as though they are built to only last a few years???

That just sums up australia's shipping/postal service, just really disappointing, not to mention that some times they just leave a pick up card instead of knocking on the door!

I've ordered goods from the UK, Germany and US and they tend to arrive faster than sending a panel from Interstate to Brisbane CBD!!

Have a chat to "Transporter" who lives in Adelaide and does mobile servicing and also offers ECU tuning so he could no doubt help you out with getting rid of the light on your dash.

I should pick it up tomorrow and thanks I have a couple of people to try for the dash delete..!
