Check strap

Hey all,
I'm on the look out for a 2011 T5 Multivan, drivers door check strap, the one on mine snapped at what looks like the weakest point of the part. Has anyone ever tried welding the strap back together ? I'm no welder so don't know if it was to be welded weather it would hold.
Bit steep for a new one at bout $280[emoji15].

It's a VW even motoring journo's say the same thing , yesterdays article in the papers about a range of cars in the running for an award stated the VW was a car which would be costly to owners when time came for repairs etc .

Brookvale Spares here in Sydney, could mail you one up. They wreck T5s all the time. You might even get one the right colour.
