  • T4 sliding door rattle

    Hi all,

We have a T4 2.5TDI LWB syncro. Over time and particularly after a trip to Lake Eyre in SA the sliding door has become a rattler. I think that the "receivers" (to give them a name) that hold the door when it is closed are worn. Once closed the door is able to move a little and rattle on its mountings
Does anyone have experience with these?
Is there a wearable part that can be replaced? Do you know the part number. All searches for sliding door parts show the runners but never the receivers.

    Cheers,

    FarmSyncro

Have to tried to adjust them inwards as they have floating plates that the bolts go into , when you loosen the bolts the receiver can be moved around in different directions . Might be worth a try .

      Thanks Sunny,

I have tried this. That is when I noticed that they are worn & consequently will not hold the door tight.

Another suggestion I just thought about would be a new seal it is fairly simple to install but you do need to get the right one . There are many sites in the UK where these would be available as VW locally may be a bit expensive .GENUINE VW T4 Caravelle Sliding Door Rubber Seal Left Passenger - 7D0843791C

Lube both front and rear latch mechanisms.

Seen heaps where the rear latch jams up with crap and fails to latch on the striker. When all is working, the rear edge of the door should be pretty much flush with the quarter panel if it's latched.
