Have what could be the start of a problem. Occasionally (50% time) when revs come back to idle the revs drop to almost stall, about 200 rpm then settles back fine, likewise if I hold accelerator at about 1000 to 1200 revs the revs keeping dropping and rising by about 300 rpm. Any ideas of where I should look. Thanks

a wild stab in the dark..
have you checked air mass meter/air flow meter, and possibly any vacum lines, tho I'm not to familiar with the petrol engine, might run a different middle control set up as the diesel unit. -
As above, check AFM and vacuum lines. Other possibility is the O2 sensor/s if the 2ltr has them???
Had my AFM disconnected for a while without realising and had similar idle issues...
