  • Multivan wish list...

G'day, as with most new vehicle owners I've got a serious case of accessory fever. However my options are limited as I live in a regional area and a major city is over 3 hours away. Any ideas where to source the followingAll for a 2015 T5 Multivan). The Vw dealers I've communicated with were a bit standoffish and pricey.

    - Bonnet protector (I've seen ones advertised in the Uk especially in black)

    - Table

    - RVC (prob get the eBay fairy to visit me)

    - White coloured H15 globes of a decent brand

    - no error interior led bulbs

    - fog light kit

    Cheers, Wilboy

Well you came to the right place in the first place , there are many who have done all of your add on's so sit back and the info will flow . My first pick would be Ebay but for lights etc make sure you have the correct info first .

Gumtree is also a good place to keep checking.

As a bit of unsolicited feedback towards the wishlist, from the experience of owning the Multivan, I'd suggest these priorities:

1.) 17" rims (if you currently have 16") so that you could fit premium tyres.
2.) multiflex board for the boot, original or replica. So that you could load up the boot in two-storey arrangement, allowing you to keep the 3rd row closest to rear to create most space inside.

RVC: the audio sensors work very well, you won't need an RVC. Also, starndard headlights seem fine too. Table: is a fun toy to play with at the begining, but then you start missing the ability to easily walk thru the middle from front row.

      My current wishlist:
      * underbench drawers for 3rd row becnh.
      * slimline wipers, as per the recent tread, will be ordering soon.
      * remove rear mudlflaps, as per T6, to marginally improve air drag.

        Multifunction Table:
As was said, the pop up table is a great toy 1% of the time and gets in the way the other 99% of the time. It hinders swivelling the captains chairs and takes up space when not being used. In 5 years of ownership it's physically been in the van for about 5 weeks Again, brilliant thing to use when you want it... I'd just say that those times are very few and far between.

        RVC
This is something we had to have day 1. I would have preferred the OEM unit but for reasons of some sort I couldn't get the RNS510 retro fitted by the dealer and instead ended up with a Pioneer AVIC unit instead. At the time the Multivan didn't come with Bluetooth either so for less money than the RNS510 itself (from the dealer) I got NAV, RVC and bluetooth.
BUT. The factory RVC uses a different system to most of the crappy aftermarket things. The OEM RVC in my Golf is brilliant, even at night it works perfectly... the basic composite connector on a basic camera provided by Pioneer (and most eBay places I'd say) is completely useless in the dark. I know many units have IR LED's to help, just be aware of it is all I'm saying. Personally I think the RVC is worth the money and wouldn't be without it, even with the audible parking sensors. (My Golf has only RVC and no sensors and I miss the sensors ).

        Headlights
I don't have auto lights or DRL's (which I would like) but haven't ever really had issues with the stock bulbs, even with plenty of interstate driving.

        Interior Lights
I like the idea of some whiter LED's inside. I don't know that 'error free' matters, I don't recall seeing any errors when I have had bulbs out (only two (and the same one both times) in five years). NOTE: It's a bitch to get the bulb covers off... that or I've missed the stupidly simply way to pop them out. I bent the clips trying to get it out the first time. Last time I didn't even bother trying when the bulb when out and just asked the dealer to replace it during a service.

        Fog Light Kit
I also don't have fogs but would be interested in retro fitting them, but only if you can get static cornering working (because it's BRILLIANT!).

The multiflex board is a great idea, something I think really would be useful.

The underseat drawers for the back row are something I *REALLY* wanted. There is a whole thread on it here:

        The two key take aways:

        The OEM Parts:

        #7H5885862C - Rail (Centre)
The rails are all the same price, $24.20 inc GST. Looks like you would need two per drawer so $48.40 per set, although the girl I spoke to wasn't exactly sure so you never know.

        #7H5885602A 71N - Drawers
The drawers must be made of some sort of endangered animals. From what I can see in the picture it's nothing more than a plastic tray but they want $130 inc GST for one of them.

The alternative (and much much cheaper option):

          Just thought I would give some clarity to some of The Hawks answer's , Head units from China is what we use the latest one is an Android and its pretty amazing , Chinese reverse camera with infra red technology which gives great vision even at night PLUS the lines on the head unit screen follow the direction of the vans turns . Bluetooth standard since 8 years ago on all their models with all contacts and call logs as well .GPS with latest mapping not the 2 year outdated stuff VW seem to be fitting . End of that one , personal choice by the way I have nothing against the Chinese [ they make great food at our local shop }
Interior lighting we have LED"s in all of our s as well no issues , what you may find is when the lights turn themselves off after a delay and the door is still open their is a miniscule light still showing on the LED's but if you switch the lights off nothing . Maybe Wilboy has seen the reports of CAN BUS getting its tits in a tangle when you add something other than VW to the van . As I have learnt there is always away around VW's sometimes stupid designs . Had same thing with towbar wiring harness ours now works with full LED's cost only $120 as opposed to VW's $600 for harness and another $160 to code it . Oh I agree with Hawk stupid clips on the lights once you remove one you can see what to do on the others Ha Ha . I recently fitted an aftermarket auto headlight kit to ours as well I am so happy that I am going to fit one to my work van as well $90 and around 20 minutes fitting time .Bluewire Automotive - AUTOLIGHT Mk2 - AUTO HEADLIGHT ON/OFF SENSOR SYSTEM

New bulbs - wish list item

G'day again. Received my new headlight bulbs and fitted them yesterday. Results are great - super bright and super white light. Did a trip up the E coast all the way to Townsville and wished I got them sooner. The old bulbs on hi-beam were a bit average. Now no problems at all.
Got the new bulbs from the ebay fairy. I looked in all the usual outlets on my trip up and was rewarded with a sea of blank expressions and quotes such as "I don't think they make H15 globes" or "Never heard of them". Even various veedub dealers seemed to be lost for good alternatives.
            .
The search continues for my other wish items.

H7 for low beam and H15 for the high beam with built in DRLs? Right?

At least that's what I took away when looking for bulbs for my Golf.

                  Bulbs

Yep H7's for lows and H15 for drl's/high. Strange that Vw would pick the H15's when there seems to be a wide range of others (and less obscure) that would do the job.
                  .
For those others looking, just do a search H15 bulbs on the eBay. The mob I bought them off did a combo package and expressed posted them to me. The H7's were Phillips and the H15's were Koniks. I was a bit dubious re the H15's but after some research went with them. They are a Chinese brand but work well. Cheers.

H15's are just an odd bulb. Sure it integrates the DRL into the HiBeam meaning you don't need an extra space for a light, but I wouldn't have thought that a few LED's for DRL's somewhere into the front of a car would be a problem (even in the late 2000's when I first saw them).

I keep thinking about LED upgrades for that whiter look, got any photo's of them running in their various states?

Howdy all. Just a quick update, white coloured headlights working fine. I replaced the front blinkers with LED bulbs. They worked a treat when fitted but then upset the canbus set up and triggered the "blown bulb" warning light and caused the blinker lights on the dash to go mental. Removed them and refitted the old bulbs . Problem solved. Bugger.

Hi I was just wondering where you ordered a Multiflex board from and how much? Also do you have curtains?

Am looking at the German ebay one at the minute (about a grand incl postage ! but was quoted a similar price from VW

                          Thanks a lot!
