Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Do you think an agreed value insurance policy would be cheaper plus you would need the before and after photos to convince the company it's not a real rust bucket

It looks so convincing after the wrap has been done , people would look twice . Mate of mine here in Brissy does this sort of work , he did the state of Origin Buses over the last few years . He did a great job on our new T5 a couple of years ago . Brushed Silver alloy .

Do you think painting this or wrapping it would be better?:

Well that looks like moulds that have been fitted to reduce lower body damage whilst off road , I would imagine it could be wrapped or painted that way to achieve the same look . At least with wrap you can remove it easily if it becomes too damaged , paint would be a pain as once its got a few holes it would probably start to come away . If I were going down that road of protecting the lower body maybe some of that stuff they apply to the lower sills on some cars , its like a soft coating that they paint over it reduces stone chips apparently .

Interesting. Anyone know if the wrap could be used to colour code the plastic bumpers on my beach?
