T5.2 2011 Mirror INDICATORS and PUDDLE LIGHTS

Hi team! I want to fit a pair of side mirror covers to a T5.2 (2011) which have integrated yellow turn indicator signal lights, like this: (Link to item on eBay)

I'm going to get the indicator signals from the BCM, see post below. It's part number is 7H0 937 087 F. and the wiring diagram/pinout is below (note the wire colours are not accurate because it's for a Polo, but the pins are the same.)

Then I'll go ahead with the mod (I've already got the door trims off) and post pics for y'all

Warning and puddle lights

2) I will also add puddle lights to the bottom of the mirror housing.
The puddle light signal I'll just take from the dome light/footwell lights: comes on when unlocked, door opened/closed etc, goes off when car is locked = that's perfect for the puddle lights.

T5GP(aka T5.2 aka facelift) BCM

The BCM in the T5.2 has 2 large connectors, white and black. It's very similar (or even the same as) the Polo 6R BCM and looks like this:



I think this pinout is correct, could someone please confirm?

And is there one here for SAFE signal which goes to GROUND when car is locked?? (Floating when car unlocked)

You could cheat and use the wire from each front wing indicator to a relay on each side then to the mirror lights . The relay would then bypass the need for fiddling with the BCM as the Can Bus can be very picky about adding extra power draw on the system . I used this method for our trailer wiring as the VW wiring was over $600 plus coding , a little gadget with several relays from Hayman Reese meant job done with no coding for less than $140 . The relays don't draw current from the system only a momentary pulse so the BCM can't read the draw .

Or there are these ones not sure how good the adhesive would be 2 X Yellow LED CAR Side Mirror Turn Signal Lights Amber Indicator Soft Lamp FG37 | eBay I have a pair that I bought on the spur of the moment a year ago but never got around to fitting them but I have an idea that might work in keeping them in place .

Yes that would be a less expensive alternative, I was worried that they would come off at car wash. When the items I ordered above arrive I'll comment on the quality, hopefully it's good!

Mirror indicators and puddle lights fitted

I installed the turn signal indicators and puddle lights in the mirror housings of the folding mirrors. See here for more details on the folding mirrors.

The puddle lights are pretty effective!



Look during the daytime:



I used these Chinese Eagle eye LEDs from AliExpress. Initially I was going to use the LED BOLTs from Oznium in the USA but found these Chinese ones to be brighter, cheaper and better quality!
