New Multivan - some newbie questions

Picked up a 2013 multivan a few days ago. Love it.

Wading my way through the very comprehensive manual at the moment but have some questions....

1. Can the rear bench slide without folding? (am going to put kids seats in there)
2. Where is the best spot for a rear facing baby capsule? Hoping the captains chairs are ok - are the airbags a problem?
3. Second day the plastic cover for the rear wiper (covers the motor) has broken or fallen off. Should I take it back to the dealer or do a warranty claim?

Welcome to the great joys of a Multivan.
Mine is a 2011 model and love it. There are a few of us around Melbourne with young families that are on this forum if you need advise.
I would use the seats as behind the main seats for your baby seat.

The plastic cover was probably just sitting there with broken fasteners, one thing about those - if you haven't attended the VW university course of fasteners, clips and connectors removal, then you will most likely break something in frustration. Take it back and ask for a new cover to be fitted if the tabs are broken.

No to question 1. But once you set the bench position (enough space for the pram!) I found it rarely had to be moved.

I'm in the honeymoon period at the moment with the van. Wife likes it so that's a good start.

Thanks for the tips. I think I left enough room for the pram before putting the kids seats in.

Next job will be researching reverse camera. Thanks guys.

All good mate, only the front seats have the built-in air bags. In the rear the curtain airbags pop out from the sides of the roof so will keep baby safe in a side impact (and stop bits of glass entering the cabin which is a plus)

Re: RVC plenty of info on here, see my sig for pics, I highly recommend getting some yellowtongue (from a house construction site, or maybe Bunnings might have some spare out the back) and using it to push the wires thru the roof, I went the floor path and it was difficult to put the sliding door step back.

It's a damn shame you can't slide the third row without laying the seat flat. I've been saying (for five years) that I should dig under there and see if I can't find the release pin so you could manually press it and save taking the kids seats in and out... reality is that I have only moved the seat a handful of times in all the years we've had the van so it's not a big a problem as you'd think.

When it comes to reversing camera I have a few thoughts.
* The OEM camera in my Golf is brilliant. Clear image that works even in dark conditions.
* The Pioneer supplier camera with my AVIC headunit is *very* ordinary as it starts to get dim and near useless at night.

That said, it hasn't been a huge issue in all the time we have had it since we tend to drive during the day or are in decently lit places anyway.

If you already have an RCD510 or RNS510 the factory camera is probably the easiest upgrade. If you don't... well I've said it many times, but I'd be tempted by one of the Android based head units (+ RVC of course ).
