Van is shuddering it's way at low revs (1500-2000) to short destinations. Called into the local mechanic who plugged it into his computer and came up with "Pump Jet Valve Cylinder 4 - Electronic malfunction". He couldn't tell me what it was?! I gather from research that it may be something to do with the injectors - front and rear fuel filters and temperature sensor changed in most recent service due to failed sensor code. Any ideas on how much this costs to fix and what EXACTLY it means? Is it likely that a new ECU will cure it or is this the beginning of the end?

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I have had a lumpy running Multivan for quite some time, particuarly at around the 1400 rpm mark coupled with reasonance at about 1800rpm. No fault codes logged and no boost leaks. I am thinking possibly a loom issue or tappet.
