Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • When changing to coilovers what else should be done/replaced?

    Dear All

Ive noticed in some other posts that members change bushes etc when switching to coil overs (Bilstein B14 in my case) and advise on 4 wheel alignment etc - so my question is what other items/ should I ask my service centre to replace or perform when they have my van?

    cheers

    Michael

We changed nothing other than the shocks coils struts etc , maybe some modified bushes may help but not sure why .

      Thanks Sunny

I thought Id read about people changing strut tower bushes or something like that and the necessity of a 4 wheel alignment when lowered but happy to not add unnecessary expense!

      Cheers

i would consider changing the strut tower bush just while your there. mine now make a slight noise after 30xxxkms on my kw k3 coilovers

a wheel alignment will also be necessary : )

        enjoy your coilovers

          Thanks AussieT5

I was thinking I would change them - hopefully relatively inexpensive.

          Cheers
