      Wicked dude!
Could you please be the first to do some detailed stroke and length measurements before and after the install , including comparing the actual strut detailed strokes and lengths and spring seat positions before springs are installed on them , it would be greatly appreciated ! , what type is it "HD maxi" or normal maxi? Monroe or Bilstein ? ( just seen hd maxi confirmed)

Sorry for the hundred questions but been waiting for these answers for a long time and u have the opportunity to be the champ of the thread !

Hope it goes well can't wait to see the pics before and after !

      Regards
      Mad

      • Hey MAD,

        They are the Maxi HD

The Shocks are Monroe, i had a quick look in the box yesterday to grab the paperwork.

I will try and scan it when i get home, as it has a bit of the info you might be interested in.

I'll try and get the measurements, although from memory the struts are compressed and tied off.

Sweet as dude you could measure the closed compressed length forstroke whilst there tied off and then when there released this would give us extension stroke length ! Cool that u got some stuff to scan , will be waiting for the goodness
          Thanks mate

          • Well, i got the Seikel suspension installed yesterday, i noticed the difference just driving home.

More stable, handles better around the corners and the height is really noticeable.

Ended up with an extra 30mm in the front and 62mm in the rear.

Its high in the rear as its the HD version, and it requires 500kg in it at all times, it should settle and reduce once i finish fitting out the camper, having said that it handles great unloaded.

As for the stroke length on the front strut it is the same as factory, to get the 30mm lift, the strut mounting is 30mm longer.

As for the rear shocks, they are 10mm longer, so its a combination of higher springs, spacers and a slightly higher shock.

i'll have take some photos next week.

            • Well i took at few photo yesterday, after i cleaned it, as its going in the shed for a few weeks, so i can strip out the flooring to sound deadnen the cab area.

It sits quite high in the rear, as it is unloaded at the moment, and the HD kit does require 500kg load

So it should come down 15-20mm in the rear, once i install the camper fitout and the bed back in.

Its a 2WD, so there isn't an issue with the height causing CV issues in the rear.

                      i have the 3200kg model

I'm still working on it, it has settled in the rear, its no longer the A-Team van

Its fully sound deadened, fully insulated panels and also insulated chassis, all pre wired (using factory aux battery at the moment), Maxx fan installed, solar panel installed, interior lights in, spare wheel installed, RIB bed back in and fully carpeted.

Template cabinets are made for routering the finished substrate, so ill be working on the cabinets once i get back from Sydney in a few weeks.

As heading we are heading on a road trip before the wife starts a new job.

The suspension is better than i imagined, handles like a different vehicle, less swaying, very impressed with it.

I ended up with 30mm all round with the lift

Ill post it all up once i've finished as i've documented it along the way, then i'll order a Sprinter lol.

The lift is worth it, been on a few rough trails and its been outstanding, i just need some bigger tires

                      • Hey Bryn, can you please measure from the ground to the center of the wheel arch please? Mine is 785mm front and back, whereas the old van was 800mm! Not sure if its worth getting a lift but if yours is much more then maybe i will!

                        • Hi Saltdog, i will measure up the van tomorrow once i head back to my workshop.

I've Just come back on Thursday night from a 3000 km trip from down south, so it may have settled a bit more.

Yeah Id be interested also, good to see its doing you well,
also what is the side step under your van? seems like u really needed the lift to get that up a bit higher off the ground
Is that a fly wire screen on the side window? would be much appreciated to know ur thoughts on if its any good and where to get it from?

                            Thanks in advance

                            • MAD that is a 140 kg side loading under chassis wheelchair lift, hence needing a higher GVM and also more height to reduce the odds of damaging it off road.

The Windows have a fine security crime safe type mesh that is in a slim aluminium frame bonded to the glass.

I think they were Global windows, but they can be ordered in from Southern Spirt Campers.

My wife loves the fact that no one can put their hand through it at night while camping

                              • Saltdog, i didn't manage to measure the van today, things have been a little crazy after being away.

I'll do it first thing in the morning.
