Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

This seems to confirm what they said before, that T6 is an overhall of the existing platform, with an all new platform arriving toward the end of the decade.

As we can see, the bodyshell and windows are very much the same between T5 and T6, but interior and face are new.

Could this be just running a concept based on a current platform , it seems to be a bit shorter than a van's wheel base for starters . I guess it may be a "Space Cab "as there are no back seats . But then photos can be misleading , but nice to see some new interior changes to dash and seats plus front end changes . Not sure I would want a bloody great towing hook hanging out my front grill though !!

The lease on my current T5GP is just about up so if this comes out in the next 12 months that could work very nicely for me

I'm still undecided if we look at a Passat wagon or a Tiguan 4Motion instead... but I know I won't be buying another Multivan until they release a new model.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Its probably the last gasp update as it seems that VW will string out a commercial model for a lot longer than car models . T4 went for 13 years before the T5 came out so you would expect at least another 3 years before a complete change of body etc .

If it can still hit EuroNCAP 5 star ratings, they'll keep using the existing platform.

The concept looks pretty cool though

              Now this sounds interesting:

              2,0 l TDI 150 kW @4000rpm and 450 Nm @ 1400, 7-speed DSG

Yeah, it does, but I would expect better 0-100 time than 10s.

It's the built in espresso machine that slows it down...(and no I'm not joking)

Lol, you reminded my of when I took delivery of our G6ET back in 2008, it could do it in high 5 secs and then getting back into my T5 felt like the world went in slow motion. Just looked up the old brochure for the T5/128kW and it states 0-100Km/hr @12.3(auto) and 12.2secs (manual) and 4motion 12.5 (manual) so I'd be happy with 10's but like you would never say no to more performance.

                      From Caradvice:

I underlined the bit at the bottom. Interesting that globally sales are up and locally they are down. I could name a few reasons but mostly standard features specs vs opposition and pricing of options would be my greatest gripe.

A new generation Volkswagen Transporter – the T6 – will be launched in 2015, it has been revealed.

The announcement comes following the unveiling of the Volkswagen Tristar concept at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Hanover, where Dr Eckhard Scholz, CEO of Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, said the brand is set to “embark on an intensive period” after announcing an extra night shift at the German plant where the vans are built.

‘The T5 is our best-seller and demand remains buoyant as before,” Scholz said. “That’s why we are working extra shifts. We see the uninterrupted enthusiasm of our customers for the success model as both recognition and incentive to make the next model into a best-seller. We can already announce today that we are proud to present the T6 within the foreseeable future.

“It will incorporate the excellent characteristics of the T5 and it will also feature a whole load of new technology innovations. The result will again be an outstanding, reliable, technically refined, mobile companion for our customers to pursue their trade and leisure time activities. Until then, the T5 will remain our sales hit,” Scholz declared.

                      Volkswagen Transporter 2014-30

Volkswagen Australia general manager of communications, Karl Gehling, confirmed the new T6 model will arrive here in 2015 to take on the recently released Ford Transit Custom and the also-confirmed Renault Trafic.

“We’ll see it here late next year,” he said, but indicated there was little other detail that had been made available about the new models – including the Multivan and Caravelle people-mover derivatives – at this point in time.

So far in 2014, Volkswagen claims deliveries of the current-generation T5 Transporter have risen by “almost six per cent to 108,000 units”. Locally, the Transporter has underperformed against its competitors, with sales down 38 per cent year-to-date (1392 sales to end of August 2014).

Yes this is a good looking ute, the tow hook one person referred to is the end of a winch rope, I hope for a work vehicle they use similar gearing to Peter Seikle's it is much more suitable for Australia than Auto-Bahrn hi speed.

Don't be too surprised if they bring the model with less off road ability to Australia and the one with the winch and other off road goodies will be sold in Singapore. Just like the Tiguan - the highway oriented model is sold here and the offered one in Singapore.
