  • Transporter T5 servicing - Brisbane?

Have only had good experiences with Jimmy (Alba European) but with his exiting the servicing game need to find a new mechanic in Brisbane...

Any recommendations? I'm in Corinda but will travel for someone good!

They won't touch a Multivan as it is a "commercial" .... I tried, did not speak to Mike himself when I phoned, but was quite surprised by the flat response and that to a previous and existing customer .... thus a Transporter would definitely be a no go ....

For dealer servicing I found Cricks on the Sunshine Coast to be the cheapest followed by Austral for regular services. Problem is cost more in time and fuel to drive to the Coast than have Austral do it.

Howard, can you let me know what you think after you met him. We need another quality (and cheap) independent in Brisbane .... Jimmy is still available to me as a long time customer (7+years) but only with lots of advance booking and sometimes you need something done urgently

Hi Sharkie met the guy on Friday night , he is a real nice bloke fixed my wifes new T5 that needed the cruise control coded {VW dealers would not do it } he also cleared the fault codes with the airbag {because I tore the clock spring wire off } and also the TCS light which was caused because I fitted a new clock spring and needed the steering angle reset {bloody can bus technology } He is only offering limited work as he is curently employed so will only be doing work in spare time . PM me for more details .

Anyone have a line on a good workshop in the Brisbane area? My T5 is about due for a service.

Jmac is back from his hiatus but he is a very hard man to get hold of , you need to send him a message and sit back and wait he is in what you could describe as EXTREME high demand .

                      Hi Guys,

I originally checked this forum page for recommendations and wanted someone on the bayside as its close to home. Years prior to that I lived in Melbourne and had a European Specialist I used down there.

The first year I was in Brisbane I had my 30,000km service done by Bryan Burt and needless to say the customer service was woeful and I went away feeling like they had probably not even touched my vehicle during the service.

This year was the 45,000km on Transport T5 Runner special edition and I found some guys called "GLT Car Care" in Capalaba. The website is fairly basic and the place looks like a bit of a Volvo car yard out the front, however overall I was very happy with the whole experience.

The price was fair ($480) and there were no nasty surprises. It was $100 cheaper than any other quote I got and they were still able to do the break fluid and pollen filter within that quote. All the dealers wanted to charge me an extra $100 for the break fluid and pollen filter. They are a European specialist and clearly some other people have caught on as they had some high end mercs and volvos rolling out the place.

A problem I have had in the past with other services is that garages claiming to be euro specialists simply forget to reset the service light with the diagnostic equipment. So whenever I get a quote I always verify they have this equipment. Something you would think is fairly basic, however I emailed some other so called euro specialists in Capalaba and they simply wouldn't reply when I asked this question. Anyway I'm happy to report this wasn't and issue with these guys, they have all the diagnostic equipment.
