Motorbike in Multivan??

I have seen proper kits overseas that can be fitted from the factory in some cross promotion with Harley to secure a motorbike in the back of a Multivan.

I am looking at various options and wanted to know if anyone has or does transport a motorbike in a Multivan or if you think it could be done. Or does anyone just think it would be plain stupid?

If it's relevant I have a KTM 690 Duke R which is only about 150kg dry weight, so not a big bike by any means.

Easy. A typical rail and tie-down setup would be easily attached to the seating rails (with the seats removed!). Have a look at OneUp or Ovesco...

On the German VW site there is a special bracket that slots in the rails to hold the front wheel.

You can also buy the bits to slot in the tracks from VW to fix tie downs to.

We often carry one or even two bikes in our T5's we don't have the luxury models with seat rails as others have pointed out so I have fitted the chrome ones that you can buy from bike shops etc we have two at the front corners just behind the drivers and passengers seats and two mounted on the lower inside rear pillars they are quite neat and will easily hold the weight you describe . Our family van does have VW bucket seats mounted on the RH side one behind the other and the straps still work fine with these seats in place .2 x Honda CRF 250 R's.

The Multi has a little less height than the Caravelle & the Transporter due to the seat rails but you'll have no problems with a 690.

I only have a 2007 LWB van but I carry my 8 foot long 1947 Indian in it regularly. room to spare for all my stuff including a 40 liter Engel. I,ve also fitted the VW Beach bags on the bulk heads which I purchased from Multiplex Man [Peter).
It works great. I have seen people with large bikes in their people movers via eyelets in the rail system. eBay is your friend or try one of the 4x4 places s they have rail systems for the boot of utes. I'd put a picture I if I knew how to drive this bloody iPad!

As an added bonus, the Multivans are now available with the 2.0TSI engine of the Audi Q5. This seems to be the valvelift engine with 150kw/350NM. With an ECU tune (180kw/450NM) the Multivan would almost be GTI quick .... .... just don't expect to take bends at the same speed ....

EDIT: I've seen VW claims of 9s 0-100km/h in stock mode, so 7s tuned (which is the same as a GTI) should be easy .....

Try allsafe-group.com as they have the rails commonly used to secure spring bars as well as lugs so you can attach tiedowns.

I've got a Vito, similar but different I guess. I've used the Pit Bull system and can fit two bikes in it.They are special units but very simple to use with no additional ties downs required.

G'day Silver Fox. Great set up in the Merc. I've just been to the Pit Bull web site, what a fantastic product! I'm going to look into one for my K1200S. Certainly beats tie downs, and the K12's Hossack front end is difficult to tie down without marking the finish.

I've been looking into the Pit Bull Trailer Restraints for my current setup. Just be aware that if your bike isn't listed on the website they can custom make the pins if you give them a few measurements. I have had to order a new rear axle nut so the pins can go into the rear axle and then I can give them the correct measurements. Would you attach one in the back of a Multivan? Have you added a further plate underneath in the Vito Silvertfox for extra strength?
