Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Is anyone fed up with their comfort seats?

I would like to swap the stock seats out of my van and get something better with arm rests. saw a van (mv or crew) up on the central coast that looked like it had recaros installed. I'm doing 12hr trips and would love the armrests and some more back support.

so. anyone looking to shift some comfort seats?
or. anyone know a good aftermarket seat i can stick in easy for a good cost.
or. anyone know anywhere that wrecks mv's and the like that would have good seats?

    cheers

I have fitted folding armrests to both front seats on both our T5,s I was lucky a friend of mine who owns his own Motor Trimming business on the Gold Coast used to do recover work for a motor home company and they used to supply different folding armrests from the standard ones which were on the seats . I was able to get the standard ones and retrim them and fit them myself with very little trouble all that was required was to drill one new hole in the side of the backrest frame and that was it the armrests are able to be adjusted in height with a simple knob on the underside . As for back support I also fitted some pump up lumbar supports these fit under the foam of the backrest and you can inflate and deflate them to the required setting with a small hand ball pump , they are real good for lower back support on long drives . The armrests cost me $15 each the pump up lumbar was about $35

thanks sunny. that is a great option that I'd not really thought of. I'd looked into adding armrests and all the kits i found were quite pricey. I have a few leads on some seats but may look into redoing mine

Hi < I bought a set of armrests off ebay from the UK. They came with everything required to fit and took about 30min to do each seat. Very easy to do.
They are actual VW armrests and where the same colour grey as my seats.Other colours are available too.
They make a big difference on the long trips.
          cheers
