  • T5 break light stays on ?

Hu guys, u have noticed a few times after I have parked my van that the rear left brake light is lit up! I have tried turnin the lights on and off and turned the car to acc power then back off again and sometimes it has worked, anyone else had this problem? Seems a bit odd for a newish car to do this.....

    Any help is appreciated

Sounds like your brake light switch is broken/faulty - do you ever get your glow plug light flashing? That normally means there's a problem (assuming it's a diesel).

Edit: Yeah just re-read the OP, it's your indicator still on haha. If you push it to the right, your right light will come on, vice versa.

Parking lights They have screwed me a few times even though I know my old VW Type III did it I was surprised when my VR6 did it... and fooled again by the Van Damn smarty pants Mrs_Hawk thought she was just so clever when she pointed out what was happening

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

          Gets people everytime!

FYI, if it were the stop light switch, both brake lights will be on.

I am sure if any of you have travelled in Europe you would be very aware that in some of the old cities and country towns they still have very narrow streets and the need to illuminate one side or the other of your car is essential for other road users . Hence the need to use the indicators to turn on the side lights for safety .
Now how,s this for dumb technology my sons T4 if you leave the indicator on after turning the ignition of and open the door the warning buzzer sounds which is what it is supposed to do , but the T5 does not have a warning buzzer now thats silly because in daylight you would barely notice the lights have been left on with this feature and would end up with a flat battery . Howard

Just to add a note here my wifes T5 does not have a buzzer but My T5 work van has !!!!

              Howard,

My T5 (2007 Trakkadu/Transporter) certainly has a buzzer (chime really) that sounds in those sort of circumstances. But you'd have to leave it for a long time to flatten the battery. That's one reason the Europeans designed it that way, so you could leave just 2 bulbs alight all night if need be.

Ok thanks guys, I feel like a bit of a goose now!
I did think about the side parking light but then again It was only intermittent as I don't usually park with indicators and I didn't realise I was doing it haha,

Cheers again for your help everyone!!!
