One of the problems with Cigarette lighter sockets is that there are so many different designs plugs and just pushing one in can cause a short , reminds me of a car I diagnosed a non working sunroof on . Turned out the factory fitted sunroof shared the same power as a cigarette socket was on , the outlet was inside the centre console and because the owner had dropped some loose change in the console a five cent piece had found its way into the outlet shorting the circuit . What was at first perplexing was I would change the fuse and it would be okay sometime over the next day or so it would blow again , turned out the five cent coin would fall flat and the fuse would be fine if he took off fast the coin would stand up inside the outlet shorting it out took three visits before we found the problem .
