Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Thanks for the info guys...

SKODA VW do you have a second battery in your van? I have not seen this block of fuses in the van?

ALEX MV...what a load of BOL***... I have asked over on the other channel for some more info on this mystery fuse box.

Get back as soon as I have any info to pass on.

I would go back and demand my money back less the fuse [probably 50 cents[ as the fuses are there for the consumer to replace they should not be hidden as he told you . Then contact VWA and complain as I said on a previous reply there should be diagrams in the owners handbook with fuse box location shown along with a number of cards with fuse layouts etc. Howard

        Hi Rob,

I do have Aux battery, but fitted by myself.

The other fuses in that row are for the trailer. I have dealer fitted VW towbar and that row of fuses was already fitted.

Yeah I know it's a load of BS, but it's not the service guy's fault, he has to do what he's been told to do.

IT is VW itself that do not provide that info to its customers.

          Alex.

i currently have this same issue in my t5.2 transporter, the diagram in the book does not match up to the actual fuses or amperages at all. my cig lighter is also blown with the same issue with the light still working but no power. i bought a tester but have not had a chance to go over all the fuses yet. wish they told you which one it it or where it's located... off to VW for me then i guess.

There are fuses that have the LED light in them, when the fuse is faulty the fuse illuminates. Maybe it would be worthwhile to replace the normal fuses with those one? Are my posts in the "T5 2009 Essentials" thread any good to you for tracing which fuse failed? I don't have the T5.2 , so I can't tell.

not sure yet, you got me out of trouble with fuses once before with those but this one is different. when your on the road and you get out your manual you expect to be able to find the fault...not solve the mysteries of nuclear fusion before finding the fuse.

OK then, I will take some out of that thread.

Now seriously, there is still fusebox "A" and at least 2 relay carriers to be added. You could also locate the important fuses that usually blow and replace them with the fuses with LED like these CAR FUSES * 20 BLADE SMART FUSE AUTO GLOWS with LED | eBay

Can you imagine how much the 120 fuses would glow if you did all the fuses in fuse box 'A'?

I doubt that you would have blown 120 fuses at once.
They only illuminate when they're faulty. There are also circuit braker fuses, autommatic or manual. I wouldn't use automatic, only manual circuit braker fuse, especially for that cigarette lighter and other 12V power sockets. I never replaced any other fuses in my T5.

                            Multivan fuse for lighter

i found the fuse that relates to the cigarette lighter in the front dash. it is located under the passenger seat. you need to push the seat all the way forward to get to it from behind. it is a blue 15amp fuse. it is located at the back right hand side of the box as you are looking at it from behind the seat. there is a yellow 5amp fuse in front of it. these are the only two fuses on the far right row. there is a little clip on the left of the fuse that holds it in [unlike the rest of the fuses] that you need to pull up slightly for the fuse to release.

                            Happy Trails

While we are on the subject of fuses I recently fitted an electric sunroof to a Amarok , so typicaly I went to the fuse box to look for spare points etc , when I opened the owners manual there was page for fuses with an official statement from VW that stated that as the Amarok was a new model there were no instructions from VW as to fuse locations and positions etc as the car was still undergoing developement !!!!!! Their reccomendations were to take the car to a VW dealer if they had a problem with a blown fuse . Geez how long do they want to prepare a car for sale in the market place , this was the most ridiculous thing I have seen in a new car . Howard
