Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Thanks Ivo

That seems rather cheap considering the Tunit is around $1200 and a ECU remap is supposedly superior to a P&P module. Am I missing something?

It is the same price as Superchips. It is no lesser in my view than a Bluefin product, but is superior to a plug in module.

But that is my view only.

Just wondering, of those you have "enhanced" the factory setting by one way or another what gearboxes are involved, mostly manuals? Does the auto handle the extra torque OK?

        cheers Pete

Mine is an auto. Only got 35k on it and only about 2k with the map. I will flush the auto at 45k, may even fit a bigger trans cooler.

Sorry mate just saw your post. I think regular price is closer to $1000 but on special as Viezu is trying to get into the AU market.

              Superchips Blue Fin

I purchased a Superchips Blue Fin from a forum member in August. I loaded the revised map into the Kombi and went away for work for over a month.

I finally had an opportunity to "measure" the Superchips Blue Fin in my T5 last week. A quick road trip from Sydney to Rutherglen, returning through Canberra and back to Sydney.

The van spent 90% of the trip on cruise set at 109 km/hr. There was some light traffic in Sydney.

Diesel was Caltex Vortex. Van started with a full tank of fresh diesel.

Fuel consumption (actual - measured what went in the tank) was 134.07 L for 1409 km.
              10.5 km/L
              9.52 L/100 km

This is more than my previous trips where I was averaging between 8.6-9.0 L/100 km.

On the plus side - the drive is defintely smoother.

I will reinstall the Forge IC and do another run next month to Adelaide to see if the more efficient IC has any bearing on fuel consumption.

I had an increase with Bluefin also but I think it's due to my driving style!

Heh, I have just been looking into a superchip and spoken to the perth retailer today. He quoted me a grand, as my van has an encrypted ecu. I take it that this means the bluefin DIY thingo won't work on my van? I asked about the bluefin, but due to a few wines and him being a bit vague, i'm not exactly sure what the deal is.

Well I have done plenty of testing with my Viezu unit with 4 tunes to choose from. The super economy tunes really did not improve the economy any more then the full performance tunes. Regular driving urban/city/rural saw my mpg go from averaging 10.8-11.5 with factory settings down to 10.5-10.9lts/100 with the tunes. So only a small gain but a gain none the less.

I have now fitted 17" wheels and am testing the Performance/Eco blend tune again. So far its looking promising to see further gains.

The performance sure puts a smile on my face though even if the mp savings are not huge!

If you have had your van tuned, what company did you go with and what was the result?
I have felt the same about my 08 compared to the 05. My 08 is 4motion and the 05 was FWD.

The difference between the two is huge.
I could tow a caravan up a massive hill (wilunga) faster than i can get up there with the 08.

I even had the new one dyno'd its putting out 100kw but still feels so different.

I think they have a different turbo and dont produce the same torque

                          Anyone else have simmilar??

I do now Autologic performance tunes. Currently have it in my T5 4Motion and I like it. I can do you a special deal, so you can test it and pass the comment.

The difference that I've noticed is that with al tune the turbo is not on the boost right from the idle, like with some other brands. So, the longevity of the turbocharger and the engine is less affected.

I have just had the main mufler replaced yesterday with a hot dog. It feels quite a bit diferent, as in it seems to spool up easier. With the remap it should be even better.

Just had the Autologic remap installed by Transporter and thought i would share my experience.
First the information about the options i had re Visel? and Aoutologic was very well explained and no pressure was felt about choising the right options for what i needed/wanted.
I chose the Autologic as it gave me a good balance between power and long term reliability.
Driving the car has become a joy once again as i was not happy with the power difference between the FWD model i had and this AWD.
It now has more responce and drivability than the FWD.
Going up Willunga hill i am able to use a gear higher and still have power in reserve.
In trafic i am changing gears now at 1800rpm as before it was 2300 due to the larger tyres i have fitted.
Going up an incline i no longer need to think about changing down or applying more accelator. It just doesnt notice it.
The fuel use is a little higher at this stage mainly due to me loving the feeling of being pushed into the seat. I am sure it will get better as i lighten my foot.
So do yourself a favour and go the remap option
