  • T5 Newbie 180 HP

    Hi,

just introducing myself to the forum, while not a new owner of a Volkswagen before I love this site and have voted with my fingers to participate.

    Previously I have owned;
1962 Chopper, spent two years fixing the problems ended with a respect for cars and an ability to fix them.
1998 Transporter T4, 2.5 Auto SWB Water leaked engine after 60k
2004 Volkswagen Golf Mk4 1.6 manual Good car in its time but local service costs were silly
2005 Transporter T5, 2.5 Auto SWB No complaints 35 k Loved the power, scared of the emerging Auto problems so sold it
2010 Polo 1.6 DSG went in the divorce .... great little car and was so responsive
    2010 Transporter T5 2.0 LWB DSG 132Kw Rechipped to 180 Kw

Modifictions to the T5 include the rechipping by ADR (good job guys!) arm rests, Semi mine spec (in yellow sripes & LED lights) New Alpine Nav System and radio, rear seat (non approved for site work)

Very happy with the LWB 180Kw performance, with a two way radio and elevated riding position the blue party lights have only apeared once.

Transporter, To be honest I dont know, the guys at Harding performance could tell you as I said they were welcome to Dyno it. The did and they did tell me but I would be guessing if I told you that I remembered.

It does go quite well with lovely down low pickup.

          Hi, welcome to the forum.
Can you tell me more about the 180kw chip? Thats a 35% increase in power. Was that achieved just from tuning?

Makes my stock (single Turbo) 103kW feel a little sad

            Very tasty upgrade

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

                Dude,
I called Harding Performance today........Are you sure about the 180kw? Because the Oettinger tune is 143kw.
The stock 132kw is 180hp, You aren't confusing the kw and hp figures are you?
Hardings response to the 180kw figure was....BS. Not out of the stock engine and stock turbos. There are some places quoting high figures, but there are issues with overheating turbos etc.

Welcome to the forum Hard Hat.

I can see that some people are a little confused to the claims of the power your Transporter has.

I am from the UK and we use the BHP terms out there and over here in OZ you use KW.

I can see how you can get numbers mixed up so dont be offended by the way people ask how you get to the numbers you quote.

Remember....its sometimes the way we read replies are not the way it was intended to be!

Like I said before keep up the good work and try and find out what the van is churning out?

                    Apologies guys

Oettinger tune is 143kw and 430 Nm.... still you do notice a huge difference over the standard. Talked to the guys at Harding today and they apparently do 1 in 5 Gti's, only 3 transporters to date, and now getting lots of enquiry on the new utes.

                    Sorry for the misinformation.

$2k.. you could get a stienbauer doodad for way less and have it plug and play.. (it's a stein-something I can't remember) I like the idea of the ECU flash tho, the GTI's you can buy a thing that plugs in, sucks your ECU code out, sends it over the net and they flash it send you it back and the tool with reflash it, and set it back to stock i believe too when you need to go for service..
132kw LWB Van. Not a tradie..
