  • T5 ECU Tuning

I see Oettinger now has the 132kw BTDI on their site.

    All their T5 products

    Oettinger: Products

    132kw/400NM => 143kw/430NM here:
    Oettinger: Product

A bit less than what I expected TBH.

Nothing on there for the 2.0TDIs yet.

    Only 11kw from the bi-turbo?
It's either maxed out or the rest of the system is extremely restrictive.

Well that was a let down. I'd have expected much better than that. And the price......

Talking To Oettinger last week, the two small turbo's are running close to their efficiency curve in standard form, so there will not be masses of gains.

We are doing a car late this week / early next week - we want to run some numbers of our own before & after. It's the newer ECU type (of course) hence the price.

8% gain - I'm not sure that I'm personally seeing the value on paper, but the proof is in the driving.

OK, we questioned the Oettinger calibrators last night regarding the gains. Now this motor is the same as the base in the Amarok, and it has heat management issues. In order to keep the turbo charger limits within factory specs, this is the available output for reasonable longevity. Apparently there have been multiple failures of both stock & modified versions in Germany already

A new generation of motor brings around a new generation of issues. Personally I was hoping for a heap more, I would love an Amarok, but I would like the 3.0TDI out of the Touareg.

I'd like to say "I told you so" ... when news came out of the 2.0 TT TDI and I raised it as a concern both here in the Van section and the Amarok section, I was shot down in flames ... questioning the almighty VW is just not on apparently ... however now it has realised and it is sad ... but to be honest I expected it.

And what is worse is that if there is heat management issues in nice and cool Germany, just imagine the issues instore for the hotter climate countries .... such as mmmm ... here in Oz.

That is a pity and major PITA as the time wasted waiting for a car to be fixed whilst under warranty is worth many $$$ to me... there'd better be some compensation and a decent equivalent courtesy car in it as well.

The 2.0TSI Amarok looks to be the 1 to get now ...and I'm with Guy, I'd like a V6 FSI and TDI in the mix as well ... pity no 2.0TSI forthe T5s.

OK, spent some time 0-100 testing the stock car today, this one is a LWB van, DSG 132kw (empty in the back).

The DSG box is awesome around town, but from a standstill, it is, well sort of slow. I suppose they never built the transporter for it's acceleration abilities.

It's always the problem with larger vehicles, if your lucky the courtesy car is of the excel/accent variety... sort of useless if you need to move 6 people (hence getting the van in the first place). Here's hoping we never have to find out just how much fun it is.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

6 runs, sport mode, ESP off, best 11.2, worse 11.6 - reasonably consistent.

Now that's with the Racelogic Databox. Now there is a great initial "Pause" from the DSG, so at the 1/4 mile, you would have trouble hitting the green light. Reaction time would not be easy to get spot on
