Like everything off Ebay it is always a case of buyer beware .....

There are copies of VW RNS510's out there, I've seen some and in most cases they are by far inferior (and actually very obviously fake) ..... in many cases buyers get duped, like what Trivett seemed to be .... and in many cases it is the buyer's own fault for chasing too low a price, believing a seller from Asia (or linked to Asia in some way) etc etc ....

The seller in my link however has a 100% reputation and sells real RNS510s .... the source of these RNS510 may be dubious to some ... certainly to VWA and to Guy (the official RNS510 aftermarket supplier) ... however I know of at least 5 people on this very forum who have bought off this seller and are more than happy with the product received and the fact that it is not fake ... but real VW OEM ....

I have 1 installed in our Tiguan at the moment and it works 100% with no trips/emails/calls to anybody required to "fix" anything. I even fitted it myself.

Will it work in a Multivan ? ... I have no idea, but I will certainly tell you in January when I fit it to the Van when it arrives ... some features such as PDC and Climate Control integration may not work like a factory fitted 1, but neither would it for any other aftermarket system ....

We opted not to get the table because we'd rather have the walk through space and it would sit in the garage most of the time. For the long trips the kids have stable tables they put on their laps and they draw and play games etc. Table just didn't seem worth it at the time.
The power doors looked cool but I was worried about the cost of the repair, $1700 is a massive repair cost. Glad I didn't order them. If it's electronic and gets heaps of use chances are it'll act up at some point and these things aren't usually cheap.

I'll be interested in hearing how the RNS510 goes in your Multivan Sharkie when you fit it in Jan. Nice looking unit.

I wouldn't let the cost of repair of a broken door put you off getting them. I think they are fantastic. Saves me getting out of the drivers seat to close the door for the grand parents, and it's really cool to see them open and close by themselves. The dealer said that they had never seen the break before, and I suspect the car wash guy didn't realise they were powered doors, and just yanked a bit hard. I will get them again when we upgrade.

Ditto with the table. Its fun for the first week, but we have never actually used it yet.

I actually love the rain sensored wipers, nothing worse then having left them on and coming back to the car a few hours later, starting up and having them grate over a dry windshield.

Powered doors are a must for us. We love opening and closing the doors as we are walking towards/away from the car. It allows the kids to pile on in as well. I'm sure they would get used to doing it manually...but hey, we love that.

Sunroof - we have the electric one and to be honest, dont ever use it. Its more of a european thing where every bit of daylight helps in that gloomy part of the world.

We dont have the multifunction steering wheel, but my parents do on their holden and I do like having the sound and volume on the steering wheel rather than looking down and finding the volume on the dash.

Obvious now that it works indeed as expected ... even better than expected since the PDS and Climate Control integration works just like a factory fitted one.

I'd love a multiflex board for the back if anyone has one they want to sell.

I know this is an old thread and I think all Multivans come standard with the power sliding doors now, but take it from someone who didn't want them and now has them as they came with our demonstrator vehicle they are very handy.

Coming from the shops with arms full of groceries it's very handy to just press a button and have a side door open for you.

I could not agree more. This will be mandatory on the next Multivan in purchase.

The biggest issue I have is that my driveway is on a small uphill incline. If the kids (or visitors) open the van door, the weight of the door catches them off guard and it flies back before coming to an expensive sounding crash at the end of its rails.

And the other issue is that the Multivan is so well sealed the door needs a good push if the other doors are closed. On a hill, it's near impossible for small kids/elderley to close the door.

Does the power door option motorise the rear tail gate as well? That thing is bloody heavy to close!

The power tailgate option we have is only for the latch (it does a little motorised closing action to make sure it's sealed snug).

The heave to get it to the closed position from open is purely manual on our van.
