Hi Midway, Thanks for the info, 205 is better than 1000 that i have been quoted. Ill do a ring around and find the part.

Just ordered the parts from solitaire so should be here by friday. $204.55. Not to bad for a genuine part.

Does anyone have any instructions on how to get the steering wheel off? or will they come with the CC kit?

          Cheers

Airbags not scary to work with. Disconnecting the battery is always a top idea. Hard for them to go off with no power.
You'll be under the bonnet, reconnecting the battery at the most probable time for a negligent discharge.
Hit me up when you are ready.

Cruise enabled by doing the code change in this thread. VW Retro Fit Cruise Control Enable ? - TDIClub Forums

Works a treat, also cancelled the seat belt chime.

Installed the stalks, was fairly easy just took a bit of time. Went to Gavin's place and he switched it on via the thread on TDI forums (see above). Works a treat! very happy. All up it cost 205 for the parts a few hours out of a day and a 6 pack for Gavin! BARGAIN!

                    Cheers

PS. i now have the old stalk for sale! Make me an offer! works perfectly and is in great condition!

Fitted a Command cruise control to my T5 2.0 litre manual , had to connect the throttle cable back through the fire wall from the vacumm actuator and connect to accelerator pedal . The unit uses the speed pulses from the speedo to run , its as smooth as our factory cruise in our other t5 . I was amazed when I fitted it I rang VW Australia and spoke to a gentlemen in the office there he kindly rang me back and told me the colour of the wire behind the instrument cluster all that was required was to solder speed sensing wire from cruise and that was it , no magnets !!. Used a Ford brake light switch for the clutch . The unit has worked flawlesly for now five years and over 140000 k,s

Glad I'm not the first to try this...

I'm also in Adelaide; ordered the part in based on advice here, and had AVW fit it. It seems activated, as the 'G' is where it ought to be in the readout. However, when you switch it on, an 'implausible' message comes up. Interestingly, the light on the dash goes out as soon as you move the car in either direction. It only comes on again after the car is switched off and restarted (sound like Windows doesn't it! )

Switching the CC on whilst the car is in motion sees the light come on momentarily and instantly turn off again. No amount of switch-flicking makes it return until after the vehicle is again brought to rest.

Any clues anybody? Brake light switch is good, recently replaced. I reckon the new stalk has a ****y switch - but maybe somebody here has some ideas?

                        Many thanks!

                            hi everyone,

looking at a transporter 1.9l lwb but want to have cruise control can anyone confirm if the part number 7h2998527 will be ok to retro fit to a 2005 lwb 1.9l transporter without any issues. It has electric windows if that helps. from what i read here and also on vwt4forum and the brickyard it should be ok. VW dealers dont seem to want to know or can't give me any idea about if this can be done. thank you
